The lines on the lower areas of the letters like on the G look like MD to me

Die deterioration doubling usually never runs toward the inside of the design - it's also usually not very sharp.
What you have here is machine doubling.

Never say never! When you think you just don't get it, things begin to fall into place, and you feel a lot better. Keep yopur eye peeled fopr some of the test photos, in another area, where BJ, and others post photos for "guessing".. Wgen you find one, and guess it right, you will grin from ear to ear!
