I've been comparing one of my 82p's to the one listed by Bob under DDO and noticed similarities. Is it possible mine is also a DDO? I've posted 3 pics, still don't have the scope hooked up

Unfortunately, your coin is not a doubled die. A lot of the 1982 coins were struck with worn dies that made the devices appear to have some extra thickness, and yours seems to be one of them. First thing to check is that the coin is a large date copper (which yours appears to be). A pick-up point of the true class 6 doubled die is the first few letters of 'LIBERTY'. There should be some notching on the L and I. In addition, the extra thickness on the doubled die really decreases the size of the center portions of the B and R of LIBERTY and the spaces between the legs of the W and E of WE. I think if you ever come across the real doubled die and compare it with ones like you have, the differences are readily apparent. Off hand, I would say that your coin is not another coin with class 6 doubling.

Bob, I thought at first it was doubled, but couldn't find any notches. I assumed it was my vision. Would I be correct in using the top part of the "W", as well as the two bottom parts, as a guide? I notice they are "well rounded", and "worn"?

That would be a good diagnostic Dick. The areas between the legs of the 'W' are very shallow on the class 6 for this date in particular. I have come across very many 1982 large date copper cents that look like the one pictured here. Over time, I have come to dismiss them as worn dies. As I stated above...if and when you find the doubled die, there will be no doubt you have it.

Thanks, Bob. I'll keep that in mind. I have a ton of '82's, and after I separate them Cu-zinc, then grab all the small dates-zinc, then I'll send you the 3rd discovery, so you can post it on the forum! Ok? Was that "D", or "P"?
