Hello,

I have been looking at this site for several months now and wanted to say what a great place to come to to find information out. I have read the forums for awhile as well and its great to see people working with each other so well.

While I have only recently begun collecting my wife thinks ive gone a bit overboard. I have mainly been concentrating on Lincoln Cents. the bulk of my wifes headaches are the 15 mint sewn bags of copper memorials, 10 tubed bags and countless rolls. Im sure alot of you have been here and done this as well. So it will be great talking with you.

I also sell on ebay under the name Lazyone67

http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZlazyone67

Sorry for the shameless plug there.

If you ever have a question for me please feel free to drop me a line.

Thanks
Howard Anderson

Welcome Howard.

This hobby tends to lead to accumulation of lots of stuff. Good finds take volume and luck - plus, I just can't turn in the pre-1982's back to the bank. So the hoard grows and grows. I have my own little mess of coins in my office -- but at least it is not on the dining room table so my wife can't complain too much.

I wish someone would have warned me before hand that I should not have taken over the dining room table.

Actually I have been fairly lucky. So far Ive my major finds have been a 1917 DDO, a 1936 type 2 DDO and about 10 1961 D over horizontal D

Also alot of other RPMS thank in major part to this site.

All those that have contibuted images and time to this site should know that it is much appreiciated by many people who do not post here.

Thank you for making the site.
Howard

Howard. Those are some nice varieties to find. I have 1 1961 D/horizontal D, but I bought that coin. I have only seen one 1917 DDO in person, and it is a very nice variety.

Do you cherrypick at shows, or search through rolls?

I bought four bags of wheaties from a local dealer. In the first bag I found the 36 Type 2 the third bag I found the 1917 DDO.

In another part of the forum here i posted some pics of the 1917. Its not the best looking coin but I was still happy when i found it.

For the 1961 D/D/D I bought a deal with a bag of 1960 P Lincolns that had about 130 rolls of mixed 61,62,63 P and D Lincolns. I have yet to look through them all because more and more coins keep flooding the house. I'm debating about pciking up another 300 rolls of early 60s this weekend. I dont know how much more weight the joists can handle before the floor gives out.

Im starting to sell off some of the coins, rolls and bags just to appease the wife and really upsetting postal workers everywhere. You got to love putting 10,000 Lincolns in a flat rate box for 8.95.

lazybones67, Your activities, don't reflect your name! What would a bag of wheats go for? Not anything in particular, just a bag. I would hope it had some early dates, but it would make little difference, what comes out. I have thousands of culls, and quit buying, but maybe there are still coins there, that haven't been thru 10 million collectors hands.

I would like to welcome you also Howard. It seems that most of us who have stashed away a few bags and/or rolls always catches the wrath of someone else. Continued good luck with your searches. Based on your finds already, you know what it's like to get the 'bug'.
Thanks for your interest in the coppercoins forum, and once again...welcome!

I hope my thoughrs were not taken in this context. It is not the case It is "envy" in that you have found bags in your area, for which I am happy for you. Bags are unknown in my area. If there were any here, I would be looking thru it, (them), with the same pleasure and entheuuasim, (sp), as any of you. It is the sadness of their lack, not "wrath" that you have while others have not. If I have offended, please forive me. It was not nor would I everknowingly offend. I would retire from this, and any other forums before that would happen! I would try to make good use of what I have learned from all of you. Knowledge should not be wasted.

I was buying the bags of wheats for $210.00 The "unsearched wheats", as the dealer calls them, of course had been searched through. Luckly the person searching them had bad eyesight and no access to this forum.

Sorry I didn't see your post on this thread Dick until just now. I think my eyesight is going from looking at the coins.

howard, don't feel bad! We all will have this problem, sooner, or later. those of us with it NOW can only expect it to get worse. Because of this very thing, I have led kKurtS on a merry chase, lookingg at, & for Canadian 1949 cents, with the Var.2 being the point. point is my TV has been showing distorted views, of the coins, et al, that I have tried to identify, and of 90+ '49's there is one that actually is the AT, (pointing AT the denticles, rather than in between). One appears to be a large, over small, in one area, but; it could also be die deterioration. Bob, you might comment on this. the Sm/Lg looks just like the 1960-D, lg/Sm. Can this be "area-selective"? by that, I mean can "in God we" be that way, while the rest is normal?

Dick: I have 36 1949 Canadian Cents. What do I need to watch for on them? Image would be great.

Coop, If you look at Canadian Cons forun, under the"'49 points to denticales", yoou will find the high relief, and the low relief guides, as to where the "A" is pointing to make it the Var. 1, or 2.. The author of mopst of the posed there is KurtS. his Photographic ablilties are well demonstrated. You will find him very cooperative.

Coop, this id a 1953 with the "I" pointing to the denticle. If it points "in-between", then it is the other variety.. You will find photos in the topics relative to the '49. If you have any '48, the same scenario aplies, except instead of the "2nd "A" in "gratia", ( '49 ). ( They use the "I" in "DEI" on the 53, NSF, or SF.No Sholder Fold, Sholder Fold)."
