Me personally I wouldnt have a problem spending XF money on the coin. Without seeing it i think it is XF / AU from the pictures.
How is the rim by Liberty? I see one ding higher and something blending into the L in Liberty

But then again I'm new to coins.

I would take a stab at EF40-45. It might grade a little bit higher.

Hello Howard
There is a tiny little ding near the top of this new pic of that area.Looks like metal flow on the edge near and slightly above Liberty. No ding in that area near Liberty.

There is also an extra blob of metal on the verticle bar of the l and the horizontal bar looks incomplete(not as high as the verticle bat on the L.Also looks like an extra upper loop on the MM.I tried to show pics.

I should also mention I am using a braile reader to read this message, as my eyes have given out from looking at too many coins.

Looks F-EF depending on who grades it. Wink

31-S is a unique situation. They are very low mintage but most were plucked from circulation in 31 since they knew right away they were rare so most are nice and a lot of uncs are around. Because of that the price structure is almost flat from Good - AU. Smile

I need to ask Howard a question: You saud you use a Braile text reasder to read the messagw. Would you elaborate? I ask, because I am "legally blind".. I have no frontal vision, and if I don't hit the right key the first time, have a horrible time, proof-reading, prior to posting. Second I have a couple of '31-s, one comparable to the one posted, and the other appears to be even better. i'll try to edit this post, with photos, a bit later. thanks,
Later; this is coin one:

Comments?
Much later: coin two:

More comments? Coin two has a big gouge onnthe left wheat stalk.

Even though I am legaly blind in my left eye, (born with ptosis) it was a bad joke gone astray. I am sorry if there was any offense. I must say though after looking at coins for about 8 hours I do get to a point where reading and any detail is blown out from eye strain. It is amazing what people will do for their passion.

Howard, ni iffense taken. I am very new at this "not being able to drive, can't see to correct text, , etc. Try copying the "Robot busters" they are using on nearly all vorm, or forums, etc. Not only Legally blind, but very hard of hearing. Too mang Rock crushers, Four-blade props, steam engine whistles, etc. I wonder if my vision problem was not brought on by medications. Less than a year ago, no make that 2005, when I went to renew my drivers license, I couldn't read the nimbers, or place the distances of different cars, etc, etc. The Girl that gave me the test was a young mexican , and I was speaking Spanish to her. Who knows. She passed my test, I didn't, but had my license until September, this year, (2007). It could be the 'flash-burns one gets when a bunch of welders are "burning rods" I thought there was some type of "doo-dad" that one could use for reading, ( they make the letters, and numbers TOO SMALL! I use Arial Black, and pica size 18 in my emails, ond PM's, so if you ever get one from me, ex[ect to see that!. I'm not crying about my condition, because I have had my share of "seeing things, I shouldn't, so it all works out. I can "ssee" all around, just fine. Don't try to sneak up on me, because my perihpal vision is as good as anyones! I am running out of "equipment, tho, because my eyes are no good, can't hear, got no teeth, and I best leave it there. What can I expect at 83? I see a lot of guys, a lot younger than I that are in bad shape. nope, no offense taken. It was a good joke, (on me). Laughing!
