Hi Pubcrawler, and welcome to the forum!
Looks to me like you could have a split planchet, but I'm no authority on errors. Perhaps someone else who might know more about them will respond.

Sombody on another forum said it looked like it was dipped in battery acid?? I don't know but I would think it would have more damage. Plus look aroud the "I" in liberty also has some of the same effect.

What is the photo on the bottom left of? Is that the reverse? If not, could you post a picture of the reverse. Often times it is very important to those in the know to see the other side to form a good opinion of what happened to make a coin the way it is.
