If your in the USA, don't forget the eclipse of the Moon. It starts in a few hours from where I'm at. Supposed to be a good one, not that there are bad ones.

Unfortunately for us out here in Hawaii, we will only catch the last half-hour of the eclipse.

Hi Carl and Nohea,After the cloud cover cleared here just outside of Phila.It was great.The moon looked to be alot closer than usual also.See it again in 2010!!!

I didn't see it live, but it was on FOX news, so no big deal. I like the Solar Eclipses. The shape of it is transmitted itnthe light thru the holes between the leaves, or any hole that allows light to pass. I have seen several, in different parts of the world.

I got to see it last night. We finally had a clear sky. It WAS a pretty sight. Dang, wish now I hadn't given my son-in-law my telescope. Oh well.

A scope would not be of much use. You would see more of the Moon with a scope when it is full and no light blocked by the Earth. However, by me it was spectacular. Colder than anything outside but well worth it. During total, the Umbra turned actually red due to light emitted from the Earth. Things like this must have been frightening way, way back in time.

It was too dang cold out for me to watch it here in Illinois. But I figured I'd share an eclipse for those that missed it.

Not to cold in Illinois if your in an observatory, tall house with a East facing window, a few Martini's or all of the above.
