Are you using Windows XP or Vista. If your using vista like I am, the qx isn't compatable.

Darrell, welcome back! It's nice to hear from ypou again. I agree with Rhubarb, don't even think opf working with VISTA! There are about nine versions, and they all have a plague of bugs!
Now to your case, are you un-plugging the QX3, after you have it installed? I am running XP. and it, HMMM, Now that I think of it, I'm not sure if it is compatible with XPP, of not. Vista, NO!!! Anyway I just leave it plugged in all the time, that way I don't get the "new hardware found" message, and the headaches that go with it.

I have the QX5. Just got a new puter, and of course, it has Vista Home Premium. My microscope won't work - tells me I don't have the proper software. I contacted Digital Blue yesterday. Got an email back today asking which version I had so they could help me. Here's the address in case you want to contact them. Good luck.

The software that comes with the Intel Play QX3 does not work with Windows XP. But Intel does provide a downloadable patch to make it work with XP. Here is a link to the QX3 download page on the Intel website...

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/detail_desc.aspx?Inst=Yes&ProductID=160&DwnldID=4419

Even with the update, I recenty had trouble with my QX3. For some reason, the device would disconnect from the driver and I'd have to reboot my computer to get it to work again. To resolve this, I unplugged the QX3, uninstalled the software, reinstalled the latest software, and plugged the QX3 back in using a different USB port. It is now working fine again.

I have the same story to report! Mine was dorpping out, and I downloaded the update, and forgot to uninsatall tha old software. No problem, because whem I restored thr system, it was removed. QX3 works fine, now It plugs in, and unplugs, without any problems. Before it would re-boot the computer if it was removed, or inastalled, (plugged in).

Here is my answer:

Hi,
Thank you for your interest in Digital Blue. Unfortunately the QX3+ Computer
Microscope will not be supported on the Windows Vista operating system. We are sorry
for any inconvenience this has caused you.

If you have any further questions, please reply to this e-mail.

Best Regards,
Digital Blue

I guess I'll stick to the camera for now.

Rhubarb, looks like you have two options: One. Dump the VISTA, and install XP, again, or TWO. Buy a new scope-camera. I would dump the VISTA, and go back to XP. IMHO.

Thank's Dick. I'd prefer to buy a Microscope and Camera. I will also make sure that it is compatable with Vista. This is the first problem I have encountered with Vista. But you have to consider how old the QX-3 is.

Rhubarb, I agree. Mine is one of the first on the market. They don't support it any more. I have other options, so I don'y worry too much. my big problem is with my eyes. And ther is no recourse, there. When they are damaged, sooner, or later they fail. I did get pretty good milage out of them, tho. Very Happy

Dick,

If you ever need another one, let me know. I still have the CD and Manual and of course the Scope sitting around collecting dust.

Rhubarb, I think I'll pass. I did use it yesterday, checking some Canadian cents. I was checking out the download I got for XP. Works fine Found a nice MD, (Not worth anything here, but in Canada, it does jave a small premium). 1999, with the date, stem of the maple leaf, and the last "A" in Canada, all nicely shifted.
