I know I saw a post about something like this not too long ago, and I believe it dealt with whether or not coins like these were struck through grease, strike adjustments or something else. Anyone have an opinion on what this one suffers from?? The center of the coin is well struck, while there is a significant lack of definition on the outer devices. Also, the reverse seems to be lightly struck in some areas as well.

Definitely grease or a similar lubricant. The design rim is well-formed, which rules out a weak strike.

Mike, that point you make is a very good one. I have a lot of the '82's, that came out that way, and didn't consider the rim "clarity, as being that important, in determining whether it is a trial strike, or struck thru. Nice point to keep in mind. Thanks,
Dick

My question is: Why is the LIBERTY so far from the edge? Is this the design for that year? Thank's.

Also, any time you see weakness restricted to one face, that's a sure sign it's a grease strike or other strike-thru error.
