Posted this last year, just realized it's probably the one listed by Coneca as 1943 DDO die-002. These look a lot like one of the 1944-P DDO cents, it has light doubling below the RTY of LIBERTY. You can barely see it in the pics through plastic, look below the T and Y.
I bet a lot of these are out there, nobody finds them since nobody looks in that spot for doubling. Better go check if you got one!!!!

That's a very good point Ed. As a matter of fact, there are a few dates that exhibit this type of doubling including the newly discovered 1927D-1DO-002. Another type of doubling often overlooked can be seen on 1953D-1DO-001 where there is a light spread north on LIBERTY. Doubling just like this can also be found on 1950P-1DO-001, 1951P-1DO-002, 51S-001 and 002.

Or 1948-S DDO
http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1948&die_id=1948s1do002&die_state=mds
I bought this coin because someone thought it was a RPM and there was no image of it and it was a big expense. I found out it was the RPM, but found the DDO. You never know what you'll find. Something or nothing. It can go either way...

Welcome RC
I always liked ANACs for variety coins. If the coin also has a lot of value then I'd rather have it in PCGS or NGC (as long as it's a variety they will attribute).
ANACs recently got sold and moved (employees changed) and I have not tried them since the change. I hope they are what they used to be.
I haven't done much with ICG, wasn't it the same owner of ICG that just bought ANACs?

Not sure.. I do believe both companies are/was located in Colorada, so that could very well be..
Anyhow, I bought a couple morgans (IGC Graded) & was very satisfied with the grades they applied, so I checked out there web site & joined.. I haven't read over the member package I recieved from them yet..
Check them out, Heres the link- http://www.icgcoin.com/

RC,
I have had no dealings with IGC, so I can not say what I think of their services. I am not a big advocate of 3rd party grading services anyway, but any slabbings I have had done was with PCGS or ANACS.

I agree with Bob. If I would submit a coin it would be to ANACS. The only reason I would have a coin slabbed would be a very rare coin. The slabbing is would just be for re-sale use. I know what the coin is, the higher graded coins bring a lot more money. so any that would fall into that range I would have slabbed before sale. But ICG,never even considered them. ANACS is the only one I would consider because of the variety history and not bodybagging coins without a grade. IMOHO

I should add....
I had stuff graded and attributed by ANACs a few years ago. At the time it was $10 grading plus $1 for verification (putting your correct attrib on the holder) so for $11 you could get it done. Plus they often gave coupons so it was not a very bad deal. It got your coin graded, attribution on the holder and kept it safe in a holder.
A few years ago they raised the prices to $12 for grading plus $5 for verification or plus $10 for attribution and increased shipping. At the same time they went to the new bigger holders that I do not like as much for cents.
That price increase made a lot less coins worth slabbing and I have not sent anything since they raised the prices.
PCGS and NGC are more, I don't know the latest price but even a few years ago PCGS was $15 grading plus $15 if you want the attribution on the holder plus shipping. To me $30+ is too much unless the coin is very valuable and LOL if the coin value is high they raise the grading fee even higher or force you into a different service level.

After reading thru the brochure from ICG, they are not cheap either.!
The 5 free submissions promised with membership is (of course) not as good as it sounds.! All the free submissions must be redeemed at once + you must pay for the same number at regular price in order to redeem the vochure.. Thats 5 free + 5 paid submissions (15.00 if non dealer).. So in order to redeem the freebies, you are going to be out over $100.00 as there is also a 24.00 charge per subbmission form for S&H..
PCGS is the best gradeing company according to most collectors, but I dont see paying for a membership in order to take advantage of there services.! It would have to be a very special coin indeed.!! Likely a coin I found that has potentual to be valued over a couple hundred if certified..
Anyhow,Thanks for the insight.. Rc

RC,
Did the ICG brochure say how much they charge if it also needs variety attribution?
The other question is what varieties they will attribute.
ANACs would (maybe still does) attribute lot's of varieties. They use FS numbers, Coneca numbers and also Coppercoins numbers or whatevever was asked for on the form. PCGS mostly only does FS listed varieties. NGC also does FS listed varieties and I'm not sure what else. I think they dumped their own VP number system.
