Thanks for the pic's, looks good to me, but I can't be sure of the triple reverse. Looks doubled though. Darn, wish I could get pic's like that!! Maybe sooner than later

Well... CONECA has it listed as 1-R-IV+VIII Offset & Tilted Hub Doubling, doesnt that mean its a tripled die? Also, some pics (like the one with the R of America) show tripling, and Crawford points it out underneath. Also, the T of CENT shows tripling in which Crawford points out once again.

At the top of this column I see "New 2004 DDO+TDR Lincoln Cent!" as the title for this thread. My understanding is TDR is tripled die reverse? It wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong.

Billy just posted in one of the MSN groups that this coin was infact a tripled die reverse... I think its the first TDR post 1997. Very neat find.

What a great find. Makes you wanna check all those coins you've thrown aside thinking ther wouldn't be any more doubled/tripled dies using the single squeeze method...huh? Can't wait to find a few of those....

Okay, a tripled die it is...but nothing on Billy's web page says so, and the photos don't appear to have tripling.

The fact that there are two different classes of doubling on the die just means that the doubling had to be described with two classes (adding classes together). One single classification wasn't sufficient. This is common for doubled dies. A number of class 2+5 and class 2+6 coins exist, as do other classes added together. I remember a time when this started to get out of hand, and a single tripled die reverse was described with four different classes!

But yes, I saw where Billy posted that the coin was technically a tripled die (although I see no evidence of that in the photos)...but it is listed as a doubled die by CONECA. Their form of showing that it's a tripled die would be to put a (3) at the end of the die number.

hypothetical example: 2-R-II(3)

This would be a tripled die showing two separation lines (usually) on the outside edge of devices, instead of one separation line as would be expected with a doubled die.

I dont know, maybe Im a dummy, but I dont see the date of that cent anywhere in all the pictures. Is it possible it is not a 2004?
