There's a lot of them. I don't have a list, but there are certainly more than three issues that ended up with BIE dies. 1955D comes to mind immediately.

They exist for many many years.

It seems some years like you listed have tons of them and I don't know what the oldest ones found have been.

They exist on atleast some modern years but are tough to find.

I find it intriguing how that particular spot on the die must be weaker than other areas of LIBERTY. I can only guess that's due to the juxtaposition of B and E. Confused

Yes, that is a nice "bow-tie". It Tux nicely with the "BE". I wonder if it might be a combination ot stress, with whatever might, or migh, or might not be on the rev.

Actually back when people did care en-masse about these, there was a national club for BIE colletors. They painstakingly went through and cataloged a few hundred different dies and published a book on the subject (1972). Some people still care about them and collect them. I will sometimes pull them out, sometimes I won't. I think I have three or four rolls of them sitting around somewhere, but have never really given them much attention.

I thought at one time a few years ago about trying to catalog them on this site, but figured I already had more than I could chew and didn't want to completely choke my efforts with the site, so I scrapped the idea....but it is do-able (for someone). Since these happen to the die, they are repeated until the die is retired. They also progress and can be followed in stages. They could make for an interesting study, but I took on die varieties, so that's my quest. I had to leave these behind for someone else.

Carol. I have several rolls of that kind of chips. Anywhere from just one "plug", to several in the date, AND liberty at the same time. I'll run thru a few of the, and post the a bit later. I'm in the middle of an inventory of y Canadian coins.
