I ordered one of each of the 2007 Presidential Dollar and First Spouse Medal Sets back in January. They've been backordered and backordered again. Finally, two of them arrived recently. Do you see anything wrong with the following?

Here is what it is supposed to look like...

I doubt this kind of packaging error will add much of a premium -- but who knows.

I have no idea why, but the Jefferson version of this set has sold for $200+ a couple of times on eBay. The coin is not rare - the medal is not rare. The only thing close to rare is the limited edition packaging. Still -- are people crazy or what?

And it turns out, I'm not alone. Here is a listing for the TJ set that contains a GW/MW coin/medal...

Maybe the "Rare" sets will be the ones properly packaged?

Looks like the mint worker grabbed the wrong packaging materials. On ebay there IS no rhyme or reason. You just need two biddidots (SP) to get into a bidding frenzy and wait for the dust to settle to see how got stuck with it... LOL

Coop, I guess any day that a mint employee goes to work, and "leaves the brain at home", is reason enough for this kind of ""mint errors".

I am amazed that the logistics would even allow for this type of carelessness. Why would Adams coins be anywhere near Washington packaging material? You would think all the correct items would be isolated into one room.
