This is a great site! Very informative. I just recently started in numismatics, has been a great experience so far.

I decided to start out with Lincoln cents. Has tuned out to be a lot of fun and very informative, I never would have guessed there was so much to learn about Lincolns, and then I found this site, now I can't believe there was so much MORE to learn. Although my current collecting is not taking me down the varieities path, this site is informative nonetheless.

Now......from the Start-Salivating-Every-Time-I-See-A-Change-Jar files.....Last night my mother in law handed me 2 shoe boxes that weigh a ton. Her father collected coins and this was some "stuff" she had and did not want. It is mostly Jefferson nickels from the 40's and 50's, some Franklin halves and some Eisenhowers, no pennies Sad . However, there are also some Military Payment Certificates. I know this is not the focus of this site, but does anyone have an interest or know of someone who does, I would like to learn more about these?

Thanks, and keep up the great work on the site.

I have a few pieces... what do you want to know? They're slangily known as "MPC"s.

Here are a few links for you:

http://cyberdenis.topcities.com/hakata/money/mpc-1.htm

http://store.rscoins.com/milpaycercat.html

This one takes a while to download... a lot of material and stories of tribulation here:http://members.aol.com/IWANTMYMPC/page1.html

I'm not affiliated with any of the above sites. I just found them by searching "military payment certificates". I've never seen that catalog before.

Hi Tas,

Happy to see you stop by! We are always looking to teach more people about numismatics in general, and I personally think you found the right place, given the kindness and knowledge of the folks who hang around here.

Have fun with the hobby, and don't hesitate to ask more about Lincolns here in the forum!

This is a great site. The people here are wonderful and very well informed. You can learn a lot about coppers, as well as other coins too.

I love this site and have learned so much from other members.
