We've all been hearing about the war in Iraq for a long time now and, if VERY fortunate, no one has lost a family member or friend there. Sadly, as my neighbors and I sat on the patio enjoying the afternoon my next door neighbors were informed yesterday that their son (Chris Belchick) who was a career Marine was killed by an indescriminate roadside bomb due to his mere presence in Iraq. He was a great guy with a new wife, home and an AVID interest in numismatics especially Lincoln rpms. To make matters worse he was due to finally come home Oct. 1st. A friend to me, unknown to you, but a United States Marine I greatly respected and looked forward to having a friend for life! God bless and welcome you Chris!

Doug, Im very sorry to hear those news. Im sure that everyone has a neighboor or has a friend who is currently in Iraq, but I personally dont know of anyone who has parrished over there.
Im next door neighboor has her son, and I have a couple of friends with brothers in Iraq. I cant imagine how it would feel to know that someone one cared of died deffending our country.

God bless those who have served, and who are currently serving the armed forces of this nation.

It makes me feel terrible when I see not only the number of people killed over there but also the families shattered as a result. My prayers are with them.

As a 24 year veteran, with numerous tours to combat areas, it still is difficult to digest the loss of anyone under those circumstances. I too have lost friends in other conflicts, and have lost a neighbor who died in Iraq late last year. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of that proud Marine, but also go out to you Doug. You needn't go through the mourning alone. It is difficult at best to understand why, but when you are amongst friends, sometimes it is easier to get through it. God Bless!
