I am very excited so bare with me here.I bought 3 rolls of pres dollars from a wells fargo on my way on vacation. At our lakeside motel room my daughter and I were checking the last roll ,a roll of James Madison, and my daughter said this one has screwed up writing .I looked and it also was a different color on the obverse than the reverse. The writing along the edge is weak and not straight due to the thinnest of this coin.I am charging my camera right now to take pics.I also just weighed it and it weighs 6 grams!!!!!

Looks like it's missing a clad layer to me.

A little strike through error on it also. Some letters are partially there or mostly missing.
I found a whopper today also. But they made me pay for it. I asked for no onions. They give me problems. I'd be better off swallowing a lit cherry bomb than eating fresh onions.

It's definitely missing the obverse clad layer. Very, very nice find and congratulations are in order Carol! I don't think the layer is magnesium though. I believe it is a mixture that includes maganese (sp)???

I don't see anything...but then again I'm hopelessly color blind.
Are presidential dollars clad?? I didn't think they were.

Yes the dollars are clad
If you file a notch in the edge you can see they have what looks like a copper colored core layer.

This is a very nice find for Carol and her daughter Nadine. I'll be doing the story for ERRORSCOPE and it is missing the the obverse layer that is partly composed of manganese (Mike Diamond).
Congratulations on a very nice find.
