I would like to have the option of purchasing coins directly from the mint. Question is...does anyone know of issues regarding Canadian purchases through the mint ie: shipping, method of payment, etc. Thanks for any info regarding this.

I would imagine the worst would be extra shipping, even though that's not even really justified. They talk about free and open borders (NAFTA), yet they still treat Canadians like they have pointed ears and green blood when it comes to postage.
It costs more to ship a package the 200 some odd miles from Detroit to Toronto than it does from New York to LA...over 3,000 miles. Go figure...they deregulate the regulated, and we wind up paying for it.
Wait til you need to send a half-pound package global express to London with a couple hundred dollars of insurance. When they say they're not joking about the first born, more people might start to listen.
Sorry for the rant, I'm especially pissed at the USPS these days.

Sandra, If you lived close enough to the border, that you could cross easily, (If there is such an animal), and rent a mail box on the US side, for receiving the products you seek. Then you could take them across the border again, and declare them, naturally, then take them home. Your expenses would be a bit more than we have here, but the time saved, as wellas the expense of the mail system there would off-set the first costs, plus the time saved would be great. We both know how exppensive, and time-consuming the "system" is, (expecially there). I have given up on buying from the RCM, because of the horrendus amount of red-tape. I get my coins from someone close to the border, but on the US side. You could move to the US, and solve all the problems with the mail system(s) involved. Take care,
Dick

Thanks anyway Chuck and Dick, sounds like I will just pass on the idea. I fail to see what our pointed ears and green blood has to do with postage ....I agree with you Chuck.

I suppose this explains why JandM coins in Vancouver trucks their US shipments S. to mail from Blaine, vs. shipping direct?
Happy Canada Day!

I didn't see this till this morning Kurt, thank you. Unfortunately this morning I got a call from my sis telling me my Mom died this morning from a heart attack. I was blessed with a beautiful caring mother and will miss her dearly, she was loved by all who had the privilege to meet her. Will leave tomorrow to help with arrangements so won't be on for a bit. Give your loved ones a hug ...you never know when you might not get that chance again.

Sandra, my most heartfelt condolences on the passing of your Mother. Feel happy, that she no longer has to put up with the idiocyncries of our mortal world. May she rest in peace!

Sorry to hear your bad news. You have many coin brothers/sisters here that care. So do what you need to do. Here is a hug from all of us.

Thank you for the kind words Dick, Bob and Coop. The service was nice and the family is all pulling together now to carry on with living as Mom would want. Thank you again.
