It looks like his beard? There is another area on opposite side of memorial? Which is the second pic, it's upside down, it is seen best that way. Of course if someone sees something else, please let me know, as clearly I'm still trying to understand Varieties/error! Do clashes carry a premium. To a specific collector of just them or all collectors?
Thanks, T

Looks like the area you had in mind. But remember the obverse is rotated horizontally and flipped 180 degrees.

Carol, I used to "lift" the photo when coop would post one lke that. I have several, both the wheat, and memorial. Makes for better understanding the "Clash" effects. Particularily, when we use the opposing, N-S polarity, as compared to the Canadians, ie N-N. It sure helps to determine what the "funny little marks, etc" are.

Carol, what I said about the orientation, is not a cold hard fact. It is the norm, at present, and has been for the most part. However, there are many examples in the Pierre Charest catalog, and in Charltons book, (and CDROM, 2008), that show examples of the opposite orientation. It depends on the circumstances, I believe, as to what type coin is being made. Many sliver coins are N/S, as well as N/N. I didn't want to leave you with a wrong idea about the orientation. Hope this clears it up.
