This is my first 19th C. silver coin, which also happens to be an overdate!
I'm not familiar with this series, but noticing the projection below the 9, my suspicions of an overdate were later confirmed.
A well-worn coin overall, but I like the patina.
Does the reverse seem to be a better grade than the obverse, or is this due to strike?

Very nice coin Kurt. There are quite a few overdates in that series and they are all fun to look at. Wish I had a few. My local bid board always has a nice selection of bust halves but rarely an overdate.
This is my 700th post. A round for the house.

Hi Kurt.
Let me also tell you that is a nice coin.
It is a 1829/1827 overdate with all 4 numbers being overstruck.
The 2 is a curved bottomed 2 over a square bottomed 2.
This is a nice overdate in a series ripe with overdates.

John, yours is a very nice example!
How interesting...I suspected there were two styles of 2 punches involved, but I was unsure. Thanks for the info, and it looks like a great series to collect.
