Sandra, that is a small date, but I can't say if it is doubled or not. I see no lines. It is thicker than I expected tp see, and wondered if it was a proof, until i saw the rest of the pictures. Nice pictures!

Yea good pics!
I think it is a large date and probably copper.
Not a doubled die, it's normal for a 1982 even with the fat looking lower horiz on the E of we.

Also a very early die state coin. No wonder it caught your attention as most of the coins you get are VLDS/VLDS coins. Nice find. It helps you to appreciate coins from great dies. I guess another way to put it is to look at your teenage pictures and then look at current images. (No slam here, just an mental image) Age has a way of distorting what it started out with.

That is definitely a large date.

I see the images are missing now, but I tought I would show a comparision of a regular 1982P and a 1982P-1DO-002. When they are held side to side in images it helps us to see what we probably haven't missed one if it passed by.
I know this is an older thread, but couldn't see making a new one. Hopefully Sandra will see this one.

Thank you Coop, always appreciate your images and explanations. I have been way out of the loop when it comes to coins, lots of work to be done and unfortunately the coins got pushed to the side. Hopefully will be back at it soon, I lurk quite often and read posts but not much time for posting. Thanks again.
Sandra
