If you're looking at the date/mintmark, that's die wear. Not sure what else you would be looking at, but from what you show, you are looking in areas where no 1949S DDO has been discovered to date...doesn't mean it can't be there, but from looking at the coin you posted and this knowledge together tell me you probably have nothing rather than something I just cannot see.

Carol,

There are 2 49-S DDOs that both show as a 4 with a blunt top over a pointed top so on your 49-S cents look at the point of the 4.

If you have a few well mixed rolls you might find one, I've found 3 of them and not looked at many coins to find them.

Smile

Correction: 3 different dies that show the blunt 4 over the pointed 4.

All three have different mintmark positions and one of the three is a minor RPM.

Carol, the terminology is RPM, rather than RMM. minor, and basic, but if one is a newbie, it can be overlooked. Laughing I just ran across a '49-S, but didn't check it. It is one of about 1500 that came in today. 16-S is one of those that I needed, and it was in the mix.

Carol, Hi! Not really. I am over half way thru thrm. the read-out is par with what I have reeived in the past. I believe I can give almost a complete list of what, and how many. In this case There is one '26-S, one '16-S, and so far, one '09 VDVB. of course I knew it would be there. Each bag has one. One of75 bags will have a1909-S VDB in VF-35. I am sorting them, by date, MM and decade, ie teens, and '20's. The 20's, 30's etc are going into tubes FFR. I always log, the date, list all coins, and put them away to check by date, later. Depending on what is "hot" at the moment on the forum. I don't expect to see any trails/wacysteps, or '43. None have ever shown uo in any lot I have received. In fact there were "ZERO '43 cents of any kind, in those 30,000 cents I sorted thru some time back. "Unsearched" they say? BS!, (Been Searched)!

Carol, check the "4" to see if possibly the "blunt "4"/pointed"4" is there. I can't see from your picture.
