Coop, speaking of email problems, I have one that just began, and I have no idea what is weong. I'll uninstall AOL, but I hate to do that, because I lose all the bookmarks I have oin place, and many get lost in the shuffle. Theis is what is happening: I get an email, then when I hit reply, I get a window that says I can only send one email at a time. So I click on send later, then go to the manage mail. Then I can send the reply. Got any ideas? Ed, your input also welcome, as anyone else.

Not sure about that one. Unless you are sending a long message on a slow connection. That would be the only time you should get that message, unless a virus is slowing down something?

Dick,

I've never got that message.... and I use aol on dialup. Sometimes aol causes something strange that lasts a day or so.

I have seen strange things like that caused by anti virus software.

Be sure to turn off all auto updates for anti virus, vista and other programs. They might be getting stuck trying to update.

Dick,
Just curious, and thought I'd ask--do you do email through AOL or browse the web with a browser provided by AOL? I remember how bad the programming was on those things...hope it's not your problem.

Hi everyone! Ed, I have High-speed internet, with a cable modem-router. so that eliminates most options. I also have McAfee AV, provided by AOL. So I doubt the problem is a virus. Kurt. Yes I use AOL for everything. I agree it is a pain in the butt, but I am very familiar eith most of it's idiocyncrosies, so I beliseve that uninstalling AOL, and re-installing,,will solve the problem. It is an alternate computer, so I don't worry, ( IO "pray" frequently over ot, but not a big deal. my new systwm from the VA has three year AV from the "factory, (DELL). It ids maintained by Dell for the VA, and is also set up for remote assistance, if it becomes necessary, and has XP-PRO, with specialm programming, to meet my vision needs. I appreciate your ideas, and will give them consideration, where needed. I am waiting for a few things to come to pass, before putting the third unit back on line, with dual-boot capabilities, etc, so I can use all my outside items, without having to have a special unit for this gear, and another, for the rtest.. There will end up with a fourth unit, which will serve as a replacement unit, while repairs are being done on another unit.
I have been "stripping my boxes with round, and square tubes, of the full tubes, and rollong, and boxing, to provide space for the incoming stuff. BTW, I found, (or better said, saw a list of vatieties in the 1960-"P","D", which include a high, and low "9".
It is:
1960-P,SD, low "9",
1960-P,LD,high "9",
1960-D,SD, low "9",
1960-D, LD, hiogh "9",
1960-D/D, Small over large. This last we all know about.
The Hi/LO "9"????
It is listed in the Sept, 2008 Coins Mag. anyone have any info, or photos of this?

I would agree too--and that probably explains your login problems. Good luck!

Kurt, I'm not sure. I have used AOL, gornearly ten years, and no problems, before. I can log in on CCF US forums, and the BST sections, but I have problems staying logged in on the Canadian forum. I log in and make a reply to a post. TYhen I have to log in again to reply again. This is not the case with all computers. I log in on the main forum, and it says I an successfully lodded in, and when I try to post a reply, It tells me "there is a problem"! Why don't I have the same problem here, for example? No problem with CONECA The Canadian forums seem to be the only ones with this scenario. And It is with different computers. Same problem. Not to worry, I'll fix it, or know the reason why, then fix it!

Dick, I understand what a frustrating pain that must be. If you're using some kind of AOL browser, they're known to be very unpredictable. But come to think of it, you're using Firefox, right? In that case, I'm not sure what's going on. Confused

I wish I could help you, but the first thing I would have to have you do is get rid of AOL...then I might be able to do something for you. AOL does so many proprietary things to your computer they can be nearly impossible to hunt down and fix.

One of the things AOL is very good at is getting people who don't know much about computers 'hooked' on using them because of all the 'user friendly' things they have that do not cross over to a typical computer user experience. Quit using AOL and you have to learn certain parts of using a computer all over again so you can use your computer like the rest of us do.

Believe me - there's nothing AOL can do for you or give you that's not available in a better format somewhere else, and with a LOT less hassle than you have to go through dealing with them.

Chuck, I apprecoate you picking up on this thinf. Frankly, I have wanted to get rid of AOL for a LONG time, but I can't figure out how to use the RR network I have available. I wish therte was someone that uses the RoadRunner net, that could explain how to go about it. Then AOL would be history. Until then, I'm sruck I had Earthlink once, and never was able to do more than check my email. I have IE6, and don't use it because it is too problematical. I have the "bookmarks for the different forums, etc that I go to, or other sites that I use regularily, and it is a case of click on the site I want, and I'm there. Not so with the other ISP's or browsers. My problem is; I know the "guts" of the computer, and can build you a a unit to specs. As far as the outside, I know very little from the keyboard angle. What I do, I have had to learn on my own. Anyone with RR.net? I can use some help! I just noticed the date. I just celebeated my enlistment anniversary, today: 1943-09-08. Company 43-379. Retired 1963-05-01

Rialto, CA. Between San Berdnardino, (Norton AFB was my Medical solutions center, before it closed), and Fontana.

Chuck, Maybe you can answer a question; I get a message from the RoadRunner Activation wizard, that I have to be, or have Administrator "p[rivileges". How can I not "BE" that? I am the only one with anything to do with the computers. Is there a way to change this? This has been a problem on other occasiomns, and I trashed the OS, and went back to 98SE. I have XP-PRO, on hand, and XP-PRo on this machine. The XP-home is on the other two units. I can go to XP-PRO on them, if need be. Any suggestions? Thanks for any comments.

On Vista, that requires a right click to run as an administrator. You might try that?
