Hurricane Ike Strikes the Ohio Valley.
237,000 with out electricity in KY.
47,000 with out electricity in IN.
601,000 with out electricity in the Cinncinatti, OH. area
trees, telephone poles down on houses, cars and anything that was in thier paths.
A friend of mine brother was killed by a fallen limb.
the tropical depression intensified by a low pressure renewed Ike's wind.
At my place I measured 82 mph. the only damaged I had was half of a tree fell and the some of my siding came off.
my neighbor has about 6 acres of corn blown over.
We were without electricity for 48 hrs. but I have a generator so I was able to keep my food safe.
But we had fun, cooking out on the grill and coleman stove and got closer as a family. My son moved home after breaking up with his girlfriend.
It was fun waiting in line for gasoline(which I had to go 20 miles to find one open) for 1 1/2 hrs. just watching the irate people.
nothing they could do to change the situation so .........
Hope everyone that was in that path fared better then I did and for those that didn't I pray for them.
Mike
ps I had to go back to 26.4Kpbs to get on line, but I'm on

The Chicago area did not get wind, but we got 7 inches of rain in 24 hours that was mostly unrelated to Ike. The rivers are as high as they have ever been. Alot of flooded basements but our sump pump held out. The rivers continue to rise however.

I was fortunate I didn't have any damage. The electricity was out for 20 hrs. For the most part everybody that I know fared pretty well.
