Wow...look at how far the water advanced!
I hope the water doesn't undercut the home's foundation--and more importantly, that everyone is safe and sound.

Kurt, I don't know if you are familiar with the conditions there in Florida, but my experience in '43/'44, and again in'62 still says the same thing. They have the most viscious, and blood-thirsty mosquitos I have ever seen, and would not want to "donate" any more blood!
The looks of the water on the foundations of the house next door, and the others that are about the same elevation are all in danger of sinking, due to liquification of the soil, beneath. I would not care to live under those conditions. I join in with the resy in the ptrayers for the safety of the folks there, and elsewhere who suffer the same misfortune. As it has been said Mother Nature can be a beauty, and she can also be a *****!

Dick, I would guess! It's a while since I've been to FL, but I've had plenty of insect experiences too from up north. I actually have a small scar on my arm from a mosquito encountered in Minnesota, where they're jokingly referred to as the "state bird"
I hope things dry off in the SE soon.

Kurt, I understand, and I believe I can hear a chorus nearby, all agreeing with you! Let there be dryer times!

I just talked to BJ this morning again. The water only rose another inch last night where he is. Some other folks in Debary where he lives had to be rescued from the flooding. BJ's house sits higher, so even though the ducks and water are visiting his property, he should be OK. He has no Internet because his cable box is under water, but still has electric and phone. I will keep you informed on how it goes there for him.
We have finally received the wrap around from Fay. We had about 2 inches of rain in a couple of hours this morning from some feeder bands still moving off the Gulf, and are forecast to get a few more inches by Wednesday.
Now it's time to watch another storm in the Caribbean...It could be Gustav pretty soon.

I will tell him Carol, but to be honest, I don't know if he would be that interested right now considering his situation. On the other hand, it may make him smile, so we will see.

Carol, with the little rain that they got "down there", BJ lost his internet, and may have to wait 'til the "flood" goes away! He got a LOT of water in his area, and the fouundations are at risk, from the pictures. Now if he has a "wireless laptop".....

Hi Guys - I am back. The flooding is still bad, however, if we do not get any rain (like that is impossible [LOL]), they say that we will be back to normal in three to four weeks.
I have water in the backyard and it is up to the foundation line but it has not advanced any in the last few days, so that is promising. We do have one problem though and that is fire ants trying to find a new home. We have had two start up colonies try to make a place in the house; they are now in red ant heaven.
We supposedly have a 4 foot and a 12 foot gator in the lake ( I think that the 12 footer is more likely in the neighborhood of 8 to 10 feet) and I did see one of them at a distances, but they are part of Florida.
I still have all my AOL features, so for the time being, I will use those instead of changing everything over to Embraq. By the way, a plug for Embarq; put my order in for the change over on Tuesday afternoon and this morning I am up and running with the new modem installed.
I thank you all for your concerns; it is nice to have friends like you people.
Regards to All,
BJ and Jeanie

I’m still trying to get rid of the magnet.
The mosquitoes are getting worse, my neighbors and I look like we are learning new dance moves when we walk out to the mailbox.
I believe that if I could get my hands on bee keeper suits I could make a fortune

Drew, I would take that bet! Ever see a bee-keepers net? A mosquito wouldn't even see the edges!

Just a final note on ole' FAY. Our town is fairly high and dry now, even though they still are pumping water out to the St. John's river from some of the lakes around here. Now the renovation starts and already I see trucks filled with water logged junk leaving and going to the final dumping grounds.
I consider us lucky here and even though we did get more than our fair share of water from the heavens, we did not get the extreme wind that tears things up.
Hurricanes are a problem we down in the south must live with, just as those in the mid - states must deal with the F-2 and higher tornadoes and those in the north, the blizzards. The North American land mass is known for it weird weather.
Well any way, just a thank you to all for your care and worry about us down here.
