how would i go about getting them... ive herd that i just walk into the bank and ask for rolls of them... how does the bank know which is which... last thing i want is to just get random nickles... also how would the teller know what to look for.. Im confused but at the same time im not.. it can be as simple as asking for 2 rolls of each type and giving them 8 bucks or as hard as having to go through a mint... whats the deal?

When I was a kid I used to get rolls of coins from the bank and search through them. I always asked for rolls that weren't new. The tellers looked at me strangeley but they complied. I found some interesting things doing that.
You might ask a teller for rolls of "new" nickels. Chances are you'll get peace medal or keelboat ones because theyr'e the newest. Not very likely that you'll get 2003 nickels this far into 2004.
The truth is the way the mints distrubute coins and the banks distribute rolls, you never know what you'll get. And it was my experience that the tellers really didn't pay attention to the coins (or paper money) they handled. My hunch is that if you ask for "keelboat" nickels you'll get a blank stare.
So my advice is to ask specifically for rolls of new nickels. Worst case is you get 2003 nickels, and you exchange them for paper money at another bank.
Happy hunting! Let us know how it goes.

The Bank inside the store that I work at was very helpful. When the new State quarter progam started, I asked the manager about if I could get rolls of the State Quarters when they were released. To my surprise she checked into it and gets a box now of each State Quarter. When the new Nickels came out they got a box of each. I was able to get the rolls I wanted and other bank customers asked for them and they are abel to get them. Some are willing to go out of their way to help their customers. The bank askes the Brinks people for the rolls and they have come through for their customers. The rest that no one buys, they give off as rolls for their customers. Most of the rolls are picked up though. So by asking a manager they might go out of the way for especially if they know you. I've been asked several times about coins and even paper money. So it a trade that works for me.

Some back carry the new coins and some dont. It all depends on which bank you ask.
