Hi,
I just sold a die cud cent where the cud covered the last digit of the date. The only things I knew about it were that it was from the 80's (from the first three digits) and I weighed it to find that it was a zinc coin. Now after joining this forum, I'm afraid I should have kept it. Are they rare, and how much are they worth? It was lightly circulated and I sold it with a blank zinc planchet for about $15.
Thanks,
Mark

Welcome to the Forum!
To be a real cud it must go to the rim, other than that it's a die chip.
Not sure of the value but if it was circ and not huge $15 was not too bad.

I've been experimenting, but I can't seem to get those nice big pics the other members have. What gives?? Anyway, here are the two I sold for $14 or $15.
Well, I guess when you click on the pic you get to see a nice larger shot of it. That's not that bad.

Probably a well known one.

Mark, welcome to the forum! If you check to see what resolution you are usibg for the photos, it might give you a clue as to what you can do to make the pictures larger. I like to work with 300X300, so as not to make it too big for the forum limits. I also know nothing about your photo data bank. I lke photoBucket. It's cheap, (free), and easty to use.

Maybe I should move to Photobucket.
Was I wrong to sell it for that kind of money?

Mark, look at it this way: If you paid good money for it, and made money when you soldit, that is fine. I have never sold a coin, and have no idea as to what I would ask if I did, (other than to try to get more for it than I had to pay for it, to start witjh.

Dick,
Well, I guess I don't feel so bad because I found it in circulation.
Only cost me a penny! Pretty good return huh? Just browsing thru the forum and I notice that you look thru a lot of pennies. I wish I had all the opportunities you do to search. You've inspired me to buy a nice bag of wheaties and have a look. Where can I get a nice mix for a good price?

Mark, If I knew where, I'd be buying them, myself! You will see advertised, unsearched wheats. There ain't no such animal! There are very few sellers that have a
"good mix". They will run very heavy on 40's, & 50's, a few common 30's, same with 20's, and teens. I am about ready to start going thru 13 rolls that came in yesterday, (SAT). They have been pretty good, in that I have filled a lot of the folder one of the whitman series. I need the '09-S VDB, (and who doesn't), the 24=S, amnd the '22-no "D". This seller has some fairlt good mixed rolls. but for how lomng, anybodys guess. Your best bet is to check this, and also CCF, as mosr of us are members of both forums. Depending on how many posts you have, you can find the info you seek. There is a minimum of posts/time to qualify. check the BTS section, and it should tell you what is needed. Yes, I go thru a lot of cents. Both US, and Canadian. Those are the main interest. Mainly for varieties, in both, and this forum is the best source of infofmation in that, (US), area. It is the biggest of it's kind, I believe. If you look at the vitals, you will see that there are more than 12,000 photos, of 2600 dies. That will keep one busy for a long time, if one just finds, and attributes one of each die, one will be very busy. BTW, in case I haven't welcomed you to the forum, I'll do it now!

Thanks Dick. I'll just experiment with some rolls I guess. I'm not really looking to find the key dates. It's just fun to cherrypick a nice error or variety out of the common coins. How much should I pay per coin for average stuff?
