I just got the perfect penny person job! Well I'm helping my friend out who manages a cafe in our court house & admin. bldg.(cashier). Our soda's are 97 cents w/ tax....So I get lot's of pennies. One woman was like oh wow 3 cents. I'm like OH WOW 3 CENTS I also get to open alot of rolls of silver as well. You gotta know I can't help but go through them. Loving it, hopefully I will have something to show off.
I seen something recently about the New Mexico's Quarter Reverse, what is that about. Fact or fiction? I grabbed about 4 today, but too tired to look & 4:30 comes early.
Night all, Tery

I had a tjhree pound coffee can full of them. They were stashed, and I didn't op[en them until 'o3,. when I got back into collecting. I didn't collect varieties then, so many of those gent to the returns. Oh well, can't win then all! Have fun, and GET LUCKY!

My sister-in-law worked as a bank teller in the 70s and 80s. She came home with 90% silver on a daily basis. Nobody else in the bank was interested in snagging the silver and management didn't care that she searched other teller tills at the end of the day. She has bags of silver coins for her effort. She still works at a bank and gets the occational silver coin. But not like in those early days.
The best I ever did was find a 1919S Mercery Dime (VF/XF) while working in the 80's and a pizza joint. BV is $20 - $50 -- so it was not a bad trade for a dime.

Worked for my friend yesterday & found some interesting stuff. I got a 1924D or what looks like whats left of a D, the penny shows it age! I just saw the wheat back, I can't see real well, till I put my finds under the scope. I just put aside coins that look older or just simply intrigue me for some reason
Anways my findings, a 1942 wheat a 1940 Jefferson, a 1964 Silver dime and at least a 20- 60's Lincolns.(I know for sure 1 RPM, need to compare first) By the way Dick one guy came in and paid me w/ 4 Alaska quarters. I'd be happy to send one to ya & might have the other quarters you need as well, I'll check
Well got about another 1.00 worth of pennies to check out.

Hi Tery, thanks for the offer! I'll make a counter offer: Do you need "D" mint coins? (cents/quarters, primarily. that is all i collect). I recall you are in Chucks "back-yard, so they are not that common. just let me know, and I'll take it from there.

Thanks guys! Here are some pics of the quarters I have for you Dick...These are the actual coins. They are circulated, so not perfect. I would totally understand if you would rather wait for better examples, they are yours if you want! If so you can PM me with your addy. Consider them a gift from Santa They are in order front then back of each coin. These are scanned, it is the only way for me to get a decent pic of the whole coin. My little Kodak EasyShare works pretty well through my scope, but stinks for a whole pic. Also my 1924D??? Too bad it is in such rough shape. I had a feeling when I did find something special it was gonna be chewed up or in bad shape...Oh well I still found it! Do ya'll think that is a D?
Have a great weekend!
Tery

Tery, good morning! those look nice. I just plug holes with those that come from circulation, or from boxes I check.. that IS a "D" cent. Altho it is not in a very "decent" condition! It has seen better days, but a date is a date, when you have an empty hole to fill. Thanks for your "gift" from Santa"! I'll send you some "D"'s to fillsome holes. No Alaska, yet, but when I get one, and the Hawaii, you will also get one. Okay?

I do it like Dick says, fill the holes then upgrade when a better one shows up.
That 24-D is a lucky find, I can't remember getting any semi key wheats in change! The last decent oldie I remember in change was a 35-S.

Ed, it's funny! When I was first making the rolls dfor the States series, all the coins were very rough. Now, as I go thru the rolls, I find some very nice ones! like you said, I update/upgrade those I have.
We have a lot of wind,(again), and the weather is changing. It will warm up a bit, and then turn cold!. This foes on all thru thr late fall/early winter season, but NO RAIN! I would consider going back to AZ. I remember how nice it is when it snows! then afterwards, comes the COLD! It is like the fall, the fall doesn't bother you, it is the sudden stop! I think I'll stay put! I don't like CA,but there is no other place to go, and have the same standfard of living, and everything handy, like it is here.

A 24-D is great in any grade! The best I've found in boxes are Lincolns from 1936 onward. I haven't seen the Alaska quarter yet, but then again I see very few state quarters...I think people are holding them in mass quantities.

Question of the day...
What makes a semi key & key date? Because they produced fewer coins from the particular mints? Thanks for all the kind words
Tery

Yes mostly mintage.
It all changes if you try making an unc set. Then rarity in the grade matters more than mintage.
