Cheap coins made from cheap dies. That is what they get for cutting quarters. Seems like only ones noticing them are the collectors and they don't want them either.

The States part is. The states (Correct, without the capital S) are coming next. Then what next?? They'll come up with something.

Don't forget we have a bunch of out-lying territories, and they are going to get recognition, along with the District of Colombia. DC, yes, logical. Part of the contintal US Alaska, part of the continent. American Samoa?????? WHY????? Puerto Rico, again qwhy??? The Marianas, again why? All of these islands, could care less aboput the US. Given the weaponry, and personnel, they would attack, like any other "Head-hunter", or Canibal! But they are "under our protection"! Little better than "stow-aways", and nothing more than "free-loaders"!

Dick: They are not States, but are states without the capital letter. I heard that in a congressional hearing on C-span. But we are talking about the same thing.

Boy something got you a little bit angry...I totally agree w/ ya! It's a darn shame to see the people who lived & worked hard through WW2, having to awake everday wondering, do I pay a bill, buy my meds or eat???? But others who have not paid into, nor helped build this country get almost everything you could ask for! We (as a country) should not compromise our beliefs (i.e. Pledge of Allegence) because it offends them, anyone...! It is a disgrace to our ancestors, be it Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Protestant, Jewish, well you get the idea! We've coexsisted for hundreds of years..One nation under God! WTF? Time for a "Tea Party"?? Okay I'll climb down of the soap box.

It is quite obvious that many of you have absolutely no clue about the US Territories or the peoples that live in them.
They are US citizens, just like you and me.
They are represented in congress, just like you and me.
They pay federal taxes, just like you and me.
They serve in the US armed forces, just like you and me.
The ONLY difference between them, and you and me, is they do not have a vote for US president.
Let's NOT have any more comments about head-hunters and cannibals. That is ignorant at best, libel at worst.
Just in case you're wondering, it IS personal. To say what's been said above in this day and age is unfathomable.

SMED, I'm sorry if you are offended at what I say, but I spent ten years in the P.I., and know how things were, (during WWII). Up in Bagio, and Bagabonti, there were canibals, and although "Head-hunting" has been banned, there we were warned to be careful. We were offered "shrunken human heads", on many occasions, and the basic humanity in us resisted the offers. Ther are some who actually did buy them, but were refused entry into the US, by customs.

You're grouping every pacific islander into one category based on your experience in one part of one island 60 years ago.
I spent over 10 years on Guam. Never saw one shrunken head. 3 years in Japan, same thing. Months in the P.I., Korea, Singapore, again, not one.

SMED, I'll modify my statement In the P.I., yes. It stands. Four years on Guam, I used to understand Chomorro, as well as Spanish. I have no problem there. I have been on most of the islands in the P.I., amnd we had to leave the area of Zmaboanga City, because we being fired on. Heavily MUSLIN. We evacuated to Palawan, to avoid typhoon damage to out aircraft. Did some prospecting in northern Luzon, until we were warned to leave. I spoke, and/or understood several dialects.
As far as Amaerican Samoa, Never been there. Same with Puerto Rico. cuba, yes. Guantanamo Bay. Most of the Pacific Islands were at one time or another, under Spanist Dominion, ans all the "old folks speak Smanish. No problem with those folks. The "HUKS" were the problem. As you know, the P.I. are still a source of problems, with the terrorist activities ongoing. As I said before, If I offended you, I oppoligize, but stand on the P.I.

To me it always seems like the US territories got a sort of raw deal, no voting but most of the costs.
For a different reason I'm against more new designs.
I think the US mints are already overboard, too many designs and if it was up to me I'd say enough is enough! I'm tired of hearing that the mint profits from the state quarters, pres dollars, 4 2009 pennies, 5 quarters/year, proofs in silver, clad proofs, mint sets, spoons, medals, countless coms, dies, gold bullion in proof/unc, silver bullion in proof/unc, plats in unc/proof, remakes of classics buff gold, eagle gold, SAEs. They won't ever end the paper dollar or the poor old cent. They changed the mints into a pork filled joke controlled by lobbyists selling scrap metal.
The taxpayers need to tell them to shove the creative book keeping and lay off about 90% of the mint management, get rid of atleast one mint and get back to basics and make coins for use as money and only sell mint sets and proof sets of the same coins. Make a few meaningful coms and a few silver/gold bullion items but that's it. Show the taxpayers some truthful book keeping showing how much money they truly would save.
The US mint is not supposed to be a trinket factory!!!!
I couldn't help the rant, it's what I think

I'll skip over some of the thread and agree with you.
Once people stop hoarding these billions of state quarters, then what? I quickly calculated that up to Alaska, 32.6 Billion state quarters have been minted since 1999! That's roughly the same amount as all "business strike" quarters minted from 1972-1998 Yikes...I think we can stop striking any new quarters for some time.

I agree Ken. The heading of this thread is Other U.S. Coins (Even Morgan Dollars). I am sorry to see that it strayed from that category. I will not get into the nitty gritty here, but please folks...let's keep it on topic.

Bob, ED, Ken, any others that I missed, I agree with Ed, and basically he said what I was trying to say. There are too many. We started with 50 States. Lets leave it at 50 startes. The Presidents dollars, not a worthy use for the mints facilities. First Spouse, YUCK!
A ONE year Issue of the Lincoln reverses, Fine! But lets get back to makingcoins of something that has meaning, not the current junk, that "self destructs", like the Mission Impossible documents! Way too many dollars! Change the denonimation of several coins, so that it would take a millinium to become an expense to coin them. Other countries do, and iot has woeked out just fine. Why noy US? Currency, (not a part od this site, or thread, but the doing away with the one,. two, and five dollar bills would make it necessary to use the dollar coins., (asd well as other denominations).
Back to cents, and sense, as well. About those '22's. keep up the good work.If you can't find what you want, there is always the "bullion Value".
