Displaying regular issue Lincolns.

What is the best way to keep a collection of regular issues Lincolns? Should I use the Danco albums, or something similar? Or maybe just put them in 2x2 flips?

Hello Gabe,

From my experience, flips or 2x2's are ok for short term storage. Dansco's will leave hairlines on the high points from sliding the window back and forth and there is also a good chance the coin will tone.

For long term storage, I would reccomend one of the holders with the contaminant absorbing barriers. I think there are several vendors for these and they are a bit pricey so it might pay to shop around a bit. My second choice would be the air tights.

Flips work fine for my purposes, but I've heard good things about Intercept Shield albums. I believe a complete set for Lincolns would run around $50, give or take.

I love the way coins look in a nice album. If you use a Dansco album, be sure to only push the coins in from the obverse and make sure they are seated deeply enough in their slot so that there will be no friction with the sliding top piece. I just make sure I never move the bottom slider so as to never cause friction on the reverse. Besides, I love nice true album toned coins, not those horrific AT monsters so sought after by some.

I have three sets of statehood quarters in Dansco albums, two are Littleton albums and one is another nicer looking one, the lustre tends to fade in those albums and the coins are beginning to tone.

My only real problem with Dansco albums is that they tend to change the color of coins if left on a shelf for an extended period of time (10-15 years). All of the dimes and silver quarters I had in Danscos tarnished in the albums. Yeah, some people like the "toning" but I consider it environmental damage.
