2 different lincoln cents with what appears to be either a second part of his head maybe hopefully (crosses fingers) a dd from looking at the coins at different angles it is still noticeable so i hope it is not a reflection of the light also looked at 10 other of same year and did not notice it at all on them.
Im sorry for all the questions but i am a real (for lack of a better word) newbie at this so any help is greatly appreciated
i also noticed this on a 1993 and the 3 looked like it had a ghost version of itself to the right and on that coin the halo ran all the way down his profile to his nose. but i dropped it and he went and hid under the desk and there are to many cords to go back and fetch him tonight
and if you can help are these keepers or tossers

I don't know if I welcomed you, so if I didn't, Welcome to Copper Coins.

I may have the answer for you, as I have had the same thought before( along with coins)
As the die is pressed against the planchet. the pressure is distributed to outside of the bust, thus creating a aura, halo effect around the bust.
this is common among zincolns.

If I'm wrong in this assumption, I stand corrected with a little bit of knowledge gained from one with more knowledge than I

Mike

These raised ridges of 'shadow' have to do with die wear on dies that strike copper coated zinc cents. They are not any form of collectible doubling, even though I am at a loss as to how to completely explain their origin.

The only thing I can say for sure is that they are very common and do not resemble true hub doubling in any way.

There are many different things I see on cents every time I look through them that I know are very common because I see them all the time, but I do not know enough about the metallurgic science behind the process to be able to explain exactly what every abberation is. This is one of those things.
