Yes it is nice to provide coins so all can view them for free. I can't help but think of the Byron Reed collection. If I'm not mistaken he donated his entire near complete coin collection to a state library or museum provided they keep the set intact and make it available for public viewing. Long and short is they needed to sell parts of the set to expand the facility and when challenged in court they were allowed to proceed. I do not think this is what he had in mind.
