Mark, I don't know if this is any help, but those old quarters have a history of a lot of doubling. I don't know if it is HUB doubling, but it could be Master Hub, doubling, which would make it quirte common. Value? At least the bullion value, or the indicated value on the coin, or the numismatic value, which ever is greater!

I also see notching in the "A" and some interesting separation on the mid-stroke of the "E".

I am almost 100% sure that this is indeed the DDR FS 014.3 (CONECA 5-R-1). Is it possible to get a closeup pic of AMERICA please?

Wow thanks everyone! Here are some pretty lousy pics of AMERICA hope this helps Bob. If it is the DDR, how common is it? Have you seen them around? Thanks again.

Definitely a very nice doubled die. It's the one in the CPG. I don't have mine handy to tell you the die number. I'm sure it's the one Bob posted earlier.

Supaplums,
I have seen this die before...I think about 3 times. All of those coins were BU, but now that I see the pics of AMERICA on your coin, I can definitely say it is the CONECA die-005. Chuck confirms it too. I don't know exactly what grade it is in, and I really don't track quarters, so I don't have a value for it. The Cherry Pickers Guide lists it at $125 in EF40 condition though.

Cool news! I think my coin would be in the F-VF range. Not BU (or even close) but still very neat. Thanks for all the help.
