maybe someone can help who knows thier whiskey, or should I say mine.
I have a bottle of " OLD W.L. WELLER" " SPECIAL RESERVE WHISKEY" The bottle label is copyright 1941( see pictures)
as you can see, the cap is foil wrapped.
it has a tax sticker showing that the tax was paid (from Indiana)
the bottle liquid content is up to the bottom of the neck
any guesses how much it is worth.

Mike, I quit drinking in '48, so I can't help. That does not go to say I don't enjoy a sip of good Tequila, if it were to be available. I don't mean that "rot-gut stuff they sell in the bars! I like the Tequila , from Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico. Tequila Cuervo Is good, but Tequila, must have a worm in it, or it isn't the "good stuff"! It was made to enjoy! "Use it, but don't abouse it"!

Dick,
The last time I had a drink was last year after my 1st test after my cancer operation. We had a party/cookout in our backyard. had 300 jello shots of vodka, 2 kegs of beer, 8 quarts of whiskey(and this does not include what other people brought), pulled pork, with all the sides you can think of, camping spots for those that drank( we take keys), music, poker games, large campfire and games and smores for the kids.
I had 1 drink a high ball
food tables
Sometimes I wish I could get caca faced drunk but I ask my self why

Mike, I have been down that road, and because of the current situation, there are many with good reason to do just that, but they, like you asked, "WHY"? It won't make it go away, so what's the use? Re your cancer, I hope it is gone, and you look forward to the rest of your working life, with a positive attitude, and will enjoy the "later years," doing nothing, (until it gerts so boring, you find something to do), even if it is cleaning up the yeard, or mowing the grass, or better yet, putting in a nice garden. TYhe veggies, today are like gold, Preetty high priced"!

Hi Mike
I used to be into spirits awhile back. The bottle must be at least from the 60's or before as its bottled in bond also its 100 proof and the current product is 90 proof. The specialness of the bourbon comes from using wheat instead of rye in the mash process. The value of a bottle like that in my opinion would be determined by how much they would want to pay for it. Most people who are into spirits buy in volume if they like it and save it. I think your best bet would be to see if there is a rating site like beeradvocate.com (they rate beer not whiskey) and post it there. Good Luck
Eric

Mike, I am familiar with the procedure. my wife had cancer in '72, and spent 66 days in the hospital in Laughlin, Tx. She made one of the three months return trips, and they told her she looks good, come back every 6 months. It was a year before she was able to return. They said you are fine, now every year, for three years. she went thice, and hasn't been back. She had the Cobalt 60 treatments, anf were in=-effective, so they scheduled her for a complete hysterecomy, and told her to go home for 3 months. On her return they gave her a Radium implant for 36 hours, and did a check. Then they said wait a week, and come back. Then they gave another 48 hiours implant, and sent her home. NO hysterectomy! She has been fine ever since!. I ahve a problem, but it is not cancer. BHP, BPH, or what ever the acrynym. thet would like to perform the "roto-rooter, but I asked them, "can you guarantee that I won't have "leaks', when i strain"? "NO", they said, so I told them that is the condition for my acceptance. by brother had surgery, because he had cancer, so far he is okay, but "leaks", when he strains. I am doing fine with my situation. No discomfort, no surgery, and no Finisteride. I at present am not taking any meds. My BP is high, but in the high normal, for mu age. I check it every now and then!. I watch my weight, and gave yp the SAKLT entirely. my wife is not one of those salty cooks, so we don't have any problems. I feel fine. I hopr your trips the hospital turn out to find no cancer, and no after effects fromm the surgery.

Eric thanks I might try that... I put it on several blogs and recieved 2 responses... 1 from Australia and 1 from the grand daugther of the founder Weller Stizler. She wanted to trade me 2 bottles of van winkle for it
Dick I'm so glad you wife is doing good.
I understand about the leaks... I went in for a D O T physical today and the doctor asked why I went to work so soon ( I had it back in June). well insurance companies being insurance companies I had no choice to go back to work and when I couldn't do the heavy lifting... I got layed off.
But that is that. I pull up my pants and find some other green pasture ( and its usually over the septic tank ).
