I get the impression that everyone is waiting for the "new forum" to emerge. I'll bet it will be nice, with plenty of places for all the info we seek. Even if it comes with a "users fee, that should not be a problem. I, for one will welcome it. It will, no doubt, provide all with an opportunity to express oneself, as well as to show off the "new finds". I would like to give my thanks to one who has made this possible, and now is making it even better! Chuck, I may not be the first to thank you for providing this medium of information, and am sure I won't be the last! Looking forward to the new version,
Dick

I was all excited coming back to the forum, but nobody seems to be around. I check in everyday to get involved with new discussions but there aren't any. There doesn't seem to be any finds, so I'm wondering if anyone is searching rolls or anything. I must have missed something while I was away for a year because the forum seems stagnant now. Or like you mentioned, everyone is waiting for something...a new forum? Not sure what that is all about.

Things have been slow recently...there is no doubt about that. There are probably many reasons as well. However, we go through these stages at times. Things will pick up again, but I think people have a lot more going on in these terrible times.
The new site is in the works. It should be on line some time this year, but there is a lot to it including transferring all the files and re-writing code etc. Chuck is going to have his hands full with that!!

It is understandable. that there is little activity. No one knows How many of our members are without work! That more than likely has a very large effect on the general activity.I am on 24/7, and every now and then, see therte is someone on,mbut more likelyb than not, they are checking the new additions to the data base, just like I do. I have 15 rolls of '62/'63 cents that I want to check, but many things "interfere' with my plans, (and that doesn't even include the "Honey-do" list)! It is not only our forum, I see much less activity on some of ther others, as well. With any kind of luck, this time next year will show that we are still collecting, anfg sharing our finds, again... A year is time enough for our Commander-in chief to "do", or get off the pot! It is going to be bad for a while longer, but like the improvisors we are, something will get done, and we will be off, and running again! Domn't give up the ship!

Totally understandable. I just came from those very circumstances. I'll just have to jump in and start some topics to help keep the ball rolling. Better yet, hopefully I will find some great varieties and have a reason to post. I'm here for the duration.

I ahve checked in a lot more over the past couple of months than I did over the entire past year. I try to answer or post to some effect on every coin topic here. I haven't specifically noticed a lack of participation, but then again since my OWN participation has been way down for a year, I wouldn't have noticed it.

Dick I know what you are saying....
now that spring is here, the wife has a "honey-do-list" that I'll never have time to look for a job
So in honor of those that are laid off and/or searching for a job....here is a free ticket
Mike

Good morning to all! It is nice to see all those yellow squares, all lit up!
It is at least for the time being a situation we all will have to endure. Some will see a hardship, while others will not. My best wishes go out to those who will have that hardsuip to deal with, and for those few who do not, consider yourselves, as do I as being very lucky, (and retired)! May it end soon, and we can get back to being normal, (if there be such a thing).
Dick

Mike, this is for you:
"Spring is sprung,
The gras has riz,
I wonder where,
that mower is"!

Guess where the wife is
Outside mowing

To quote Dick:
"It is understandable. that there is little activity. No one knows How many of our members are without work!"
I run a little construction company (me, a couple of guys, a truck and lots of tools), and have been out of work for about two months now.
It actually has lead to an increase in my participation in forums. Especially since I tend to get a case of insomnia when not working. Simply not being tired from the physical labor, or worn out mentally from dealing with the everyday fires I have to put out really affects me.
The hobby definitely helps me keep my mind of the obvious stress I'm under. I am very grateful for the site and all it provides, so will continue to post here, and of course I will make a contribution to the site soon as I'm in a little better position to do so.
See ya around.

I can sympathise with you, and you came to the right place for your hobby.
Last yr. I was operated on for prostrate cancer and was off for 7 mo., then recently laid off for the past 2 mo.. this site kept my sanity and met some very good people here.
but the best thing I like about it here, there never is a silly questions. these people will help you out, and give you insights about your collection. If I may suggest, read some of the past posts and you will learn.
welcome aboard
MIke

I believe one reason things are slow around here is that it is quite difficult to get a password/user id. It took me 3 months to get an account here until I seen Chuck at a coin show.
I understand that the spam has gotten way out of hand but there has to be another way. Other forums deal with it somehow.
I really like it here. The people are very nice and understanding and this place could really be an awesome forum. I don't think it needs to change too much honestly. It looks great but needs more people.

I'm afraid I would have to disagree with your rationale about joining the forum Tom. It doesn't take 3 months, it takes a minute to read a thread about the registration requirements and a short email. It seldom if ever takes more than 24 hours to receive your password.
Other forums do deal with the registration problem differently because they are using different programs with different security levels. Either way, you must be approved for registration by the forum owner/moderator.
It may have not been meant to sound like it did, but when I see a statement like it took me 3 months to get an account, I take it personally. Chuck and I do not ignore registration requests, and as stated, we seldom take more than 24 hours to sign someone up. 3 months is a little extreme.
