That date (1999) and mint had an insider messing with coins and strikes. Remember the 1.25 Cent pieces? May have been his experiment?

Coop, you are one up on me! i didn't hear about that one. I knew, or better said, read of someone messing around with the presses, , but nothing about a "1.25" cent. What's the story?

Oh that must be the Sac dollar-quarter-mule:
http://www.coinfacts.com/error_coins/mules.htm
Or the 1999 cent-dime mule:

Seems they had a joker working in the mint durring 1999.
That struck over 1996/1999 cent could also have been a circ 1996 that got mixed in the planchets since they buy planchets ready made from an outside supplier.
It also reminds me of some others like the "yellow jackets" yellow bras planchets that the mint supposedly used that got mixed in and used for cents in several years that were supposedly intended for some tokens. Not sure if that was fact or fiction.

Been having a run of luck lately. Found this '00 in a batch of common date offcenters. Decided to sell it to raise cash and purchase the rest of this dealer's stock since they were obviously not cherrypicked. Came up with nothing but a large lot of very nice common date oc's. C'est la vie
