Yes, that is a good idea, if you live on the East coast! Rolling Eyes Wink

There have been some pretty nice finds lately. It just proves that there are still decent varieties out there just waiting for us to find them. Congrats Digenes on your nice dd find.

That is awesome looking doubling. I can not believe it is not more valuable. I have searched a ton for one of those and never had any luck. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

I guess there's always a price bias, if a doubled die is on the reverse it seems to bring less than one as dramatic on the obverse.
These are scarcer (I think) than the 72 DDO die 1 but they seem to get less attention.

Question on this coin. Because of the "dirt" up around the S of States and the E of E Plubus, would PCGS grade this coin or just body bag it?

Thanks
Dave

Not sure if that's dirt or a corrosion (zinc oxide) spot.
You might try soaking in acetone and see if it helps.
(that does not make the coin cleaned unless you rub it)

PCGS stopped doing body bags. Now they'll grade it if it's ok or "PCGS genuine" holder with no grade if it has a problem.

I wouldn't grade it, you could buy one already graded or keep that one in a flip.

My reasoning:

Assuming you could sell yours raw for $75.
If you send it to PCGS for grading (not in a group) you pay over $50+. ($74+ if you ask PCGS to attribute, $50+ if submitted with the PCGS number for that coin)

(Fees are: postage/ins to send it, grade fee, postage/ins to get it back, PCGS handling fee, $24 extra for attribution)

If you sold yours raw for $75 and saved the $50-$74+ on getting it graded then you have $125-149+ to buy a nicer graded one. You could get a nicer one graded for not much more than that.

I know of 4 nice graded ones that wouldn't be much more than that.

The only reason I can see to grade that one is you found it, that has some special meaning.

Smile

I concur, 199%! I won't have any more coins "slabbed"! IO was badly burned on the first, (and only one), and that was it. Gun-shy? You better believe it. You be your own judge.
