Hi,
I have some new finds.....I hope.lol

The 2006 is excellent, front and back, can't tell it's even been circulated just so you know these pics are no justice for the color...lol
If you don't mind could you help me out......I made a scale like you showed me,not exactly but it work's..........lol
So as alway's Thank you very much for all your time and help!!

Are those scans? I can't see if there's doubling or not. If you use a camera I'd suggest trying a loupe to see if you can get details of areas that look doubled.
Others might not agree but I always assume color does not tell if a cent is copper, brass, or plated zinc. Color is mostly from toning. I think brass is 95% copper (is that right???) and the copper they use is about 95% copper so there's not much differance. The zincs are coated with copper so they look the same except they often have bubbles under the plating.
The scale will tell you if a coin is zinc or not since zinc ones are lighter.

Isn't brass a alloy of copper & slightly harder? If so, would this have any affect on the relief of the devices?

CP,
I'm not sure which is harder. (I thought brass is softer???)
At hobby shops they sell brass tube in hard or soft brass and the soft stuff is very easy to bend, I think the copper tube feels harder to bend. This might all be due to the mix/alloys they use.

Straight from wiki -
Brass has higher malleability than copper or zinc. The relatively low melting point of brass (900 to 940°C, depending on composition) and its flow characteristics make it a relatively easy material to cast. By varying the proportions of copper and zinc, the properties of the brass can be changed, allowing hard and soft brasses.

Looks like it could go either way as far as hardness.! But if im reading this right, brass cents are just commen alloy errors? I been curios about these for some time.! Cant find much info on the subject..
Thanks,RC
