Awesome find. That must have been in the roll quite a while.

That is a good popssibility, "being in the roll a long time". If any, or many do as I have done, One will have many boxes, that haven't been searched yet! I used to get a box every month, when I was driving, but now it is when I can get a ride! I wionder how many might be lurking in one of those boxes???

To be honest, is wasn't in a roll. It was in a bag I got from my local credit union. They have a coin star type machine in the lobby, and I can buy a bag or two from them, if I contact them the day before they are due to ship them out to the fed each week.

Probably sitting in someone's mason jar at home until they took it to the coin star. A friend of mine gave me his pennies one time. They were all in a glass lamp he made and he filled it with new pennies. All 1985's the year he made the lamp.

Sometimes you can easily fill solid date red (unc-ish) rolls because a hoard was made at a certain year.

Ed, that is very likely, especially if someone wants to wait about twenty years. I can furnish a whole box of BU solid date rolls, for '06, '07, '08, and none from '09!

garryn, They are VERY scarce. I have gotten about a dozen, so far. Try Home Depot. That is where most of mine came from.
