This concerns the 1960-D, marker photos. For some reason, the thumbnail, and nomenclature is there, but the link to the marker photos is missing. Bob, is there asny way to check this? I have found a couple that have the same problem. It may be, that there are no photos, as yet.
I tried to get a shot of the darte and MM, but I can't get the marker p[hotos to open, eithen in general listing, or tilted listings. Maybe Bob can figure something out.

Dick,

Not sure what you mean.
The link is the EDS/MDS/LDS.
Just tried the first RPM and it's there:

Hi Dick. I will gladly check out any problem. Do you have specific die numbers I can look at?
For your information...we do have some cases where we have a preview pic, but no marker photos. This may be what you found.

Good morning Ed, Bob, I was thinking of the post on the LCR board, and asked the question, but did not include the specific var. It is the -028. There are others, but I don't recall off-hand. Someone wanted to know if anyone had a photo of the -028 die, sohe could compare. He had already checked the site, here, so I went looking..... I check normally all the pertinant info, IE, tilted, rotated, etc just for the sake of making the search simpler, ( or at least less nummerous.). I understand now what the significance is, the ones w/o marker photos. In other cases, the info is there, but no photo. The picture is about all that is available, so we wait until one of us, or another provides the coin for photography. Something else learned, Will this be a good day? time will tell!

Dick,

I see what you mean on the 60-d 1MM-028.

That one's an oddball, it has the one preview pic but that's all.

Still better than no pics Wink

Ed, I agree,! It gives an idea, but as in the case mentioned, the full date was not available to make an overlay,(I presume), so help was solicited on the board. It was on LCR, where I see many well known faces! I see Coop has sent mt the "whole, kit, and kaboodle". I wonder who he knows? At anty reat, the info is in "my Documents, and I will provide the solicitor wioth the info. I'm sure he would do the same. We collectors are like that!

1960D-1MM-028 will have new photos before the day is out. That preview pic was added in 2005, but I don't kow why the rest of the photos were not taken. Anyway, I have a nice BU copy of this variety and will take care of it today.

We currently list over 2,000 different dies in potentially 3 different die states each. Each die state has potentially up to ten photos. That's a potential of nearly 60,000 photos with fewer than a half dozen people to credit for all of the photos taken on this site.

I'm not saying that anyone is out of line here at all in wondering why things are the way they are...all I'm saying is that this is a very HUGE undertaking even for an army of people (which we do not have). There are bound to be mistakes, quirks, and small issues here and there with a project of this size. Nobody is perfect, and I'll be the first to admit that I am at least moderately if not severely flawed in many ways.

One thing is certain, though. We are diligently working toward getting all those 60,000 plus photos on the site, and need the continued effort and support of the many collectors who send in their coins for this continued study. It's a work in progress and probably will be for at least another 5-10 years before everything is found, photographed, and caught up to current date as to what is known to exist...then there's the 100-200 new dies per year that continue to be discovered.

This project will NEVER be absolutely complete. 100% completion can only be assumed with any realtive certainty after a period of years has gone by without a single new die reported, and only AFTER the series is done...and as yet we still don't know when the end of the Lincoln cent will be. And even at that there will still be some marker information missing, dies that are never photographed or reported, and duplicate or erroneous listings.

What we are really looking for here is the most comprehensive cataloging system available in any form for the Lincoln cent. Perfection is unachievable...although we can approach it, we will never reach it. We are just trying to do the best humanly possible job with what we have.

Chuck, I agree 100% with what you said! I asked a question, and have , !. received a set of photos. 2.. received word that the missing items are now in place,or are about to be. 3. NO way wopuld I ever call one down for not having a "perfect place to look for things of which I am only a beginner, in trying to make sense out of. I have nothing but admiration, and thanks for your efforts, your site, and the success you have had to date. I wish my life could report the same. In fact I would be satisfied with 50%. I am like a small child in this thing. I ask questions, that no one else will ask, for what ever reason. I was trying to help a fellow collector find info re his coin. ,and noted this anomaly. I have seen the same in other areas, VERY FEW, and I didn't question at the time. I didn't know enough about the subject to ask!
Boiled down, I tried to help a fellow collector, and like any other of the members here, I would do it again! I owe that to you, and the others.
Dick
