That's a lot of coin to not be in a slab. There might be a reason.

It's a real 14-d.
If sold raw it probably gets less, some people won't bid on raw coins like that. Most sellers want top dollar and want every possible bidder so it makes sense to get it graded.
Since they didn't I assume they may have tried getting it graded and it had a problem, re-colored or whatever. I might be wrong but it's the safe assumption.

I have a folder with a hole that it would fit, but I can't imagine what I could do to fill the hole it would make in my budget, ( for the next ten years)!

The seller seems legit enough so I'm guessing they kn ow what they have. They do have 13 negatives in the last 12 months which is 13 more than I would like to see from a seller I'm buying from.
Nice looking coin but for a key date and money spent, will buy a. a graded coin, b. from someone I know or have done business with in the past.

Ant the bidding will be fast, and furious! It is just what I needed for my belt buckle. He doesn't really think anyone would actually buy that coin, does He?

that is an authentic coin, apparently. I checked the cert verification. It says the PCGS Price Guide values it at $22K. Its hard to believe there are 55 65reds though. Does anyone have access to the population report?
This is my 999th post since July '03.

GarryN, The coin is very nice looking, and no doubt worth a lot of money, but $55-85 thousand??? That to me sounds like someones "pipe-dream". I'm new to the game, so there is a lot to learn!
You mentioned sitting on 999 posts, since '03. When will the party begin? I'll get off my meds for a week, so I can enjoy the party, too!
I copied a few RPM's to a floppy, so I can work off line. I hope that is kosher.

Maybe his pop numbers are NGC and PCGS combined.
PCGS Population: 47 in 63 Brown, 48 finer (3/09). So if I understand the pop numbers there's only about 100 in 63 and finer from PCGS.
That's a rare cent for a regular issue!
The high ones are priced out of reach, if someone can snag a lower grade MS it probably has a good future.
