Let me introduce myself. I half heartily collected coins (Lincolns. Jefferson's and Roosevelt's) in the 60's when I was young. In 2001, my first Grandson was born and I thought a Great BD present each year would be a U.S. Proof set, So I got the Eagle holder and now he has four (he is 3), to include his birth year. And not to have the grandson have all the fun, Grandpa now has 1955-2004 ( including the three special mint sets.
It has been fun and educational! During this time of collecting the proof sets I dug out the old Lincoln set I had, which as I said I did half heartily collected and looked at it and thought it would be fun collecting Lincoln's. So I was off to fill my Dansco Supreme book. ( I got 5 (IMO) XF's out of my old collection) Now my Lincoln set has about ten of the old coins to go, to be a XF to Bu. Now I would like to change the book to include the S mint Lincoln's from the proof sets. I have looked and looked and there is no where I can find just to buy all the 75-04 S mint Lincoln's......
Is there such a place or person or do I have to buy them individually?
Thanks for your reply and thanks for our rely to my next ?, and the next.

Hey Ronder. I had a similar experience. I collected coins from my paper route in the 1960's and early 70's. In the late 70's I put the cigar box away and forgot about it until 2 years ago when I was cleaning a closet in my house for some renovation work. After doing some research on the internet for information on coin collecting and coin values I saw a lot about errors and coin microscopes so I took the plunge and bought one. In my old coin collection I found a bunch of RPMs and a 1941 DDO. That got me hooked and about 70,000 wheaties later I am still searching. It's a great hobby and I bet your grandson will love spending time with you learning about coins. Welcome to the best coin site around, compliments of Chuck and Bob and a great group of members.

Hi Ronder,
Welcome to the coppercoins forum! I read your post and did a little research to see if I could find a source for the S mint cents you are looking for. I have a few leads and will contact you if I find anything. I would suggest going to regular coin dealers. A lot of times, they will have broken mint sets in which you could purchase the S mint Cents. Others might have some of them in the penny bin. In either case, the hunt is half the fun. Hang around the forum and read what folks have got to say. You can get great information from lots of knowledgeable folks. Welcome again!

Thanks Chuck (Thoughts and Prayers), Bob, rollmeupabe, Coop, joeyuk and Robert for the welcome and the info. The grandson and I will learn as we go and it is nice to know that we have friends to "lean" on.

Hi Ronder.
Absolutely, a good local coin shop will have proof "singles" as they're called. Proof cents are typically one of (if no *the*) most collected proof singles.
Or you could also go to a local show. They typically have several dealers w/ proof singles.
We put a link to Coin World's calendar on this site (http://www.coppercoins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=348) and it looks like there's a free admission, 50 table show coming up near MN on Jan 2:
Osseo Coin and Currency Show. Osseo American Legion, 260 4th Ave. SE. Hrs: 9AM-4PM. Jesse Miles, 425 S. Eaton, Lancaster, WI 53813. PH: 608-723-4917. TA: 50. FR
Putting the proof cents in a Dansco album w/o touching the coins will be somewhat tricky. Remember, any fingerprints put on the coin will "stain" over time. You might consider buying "OK" proofs for your album and some really nice proofs in non-PVC 2x2 flips for long-term storage. Just a thought.
Welcome to Copperoins!

Hello Ronder. Welcome. I'm working on a similar Lincoln set. I've goten down to the late 20's and sort of fizzeled because of other collecting interests. I look forward to completing mine as well. Joe

Welcome Ronder.
Some buy coins off Ebay. I've seen some sets of certain years complete with an album from time to time there. Others have rolls of different years of Cents that are extras. I have a box that I keep different years and mintmarks of left overs in so when I search a new roll of BU Cents, if I need a replacement to fill out a roll that I have extras. So searching your local coin store or trading with others can be a lot of fun.
Something you might like to do is to tour the site and see what RPMs and DD's there are for the years you have in your collection and maybe you have a nice RPM/DD in your collection that you are not aware of and it may be worth more than just a common BU coin. So half the fun is to see what you already have and to look for RPM/DD's when trying to fill out your collection. Sometimes when looking through dealer stock at a local coin store you may find a Variety coin. Keep looking cause if the coins that you are looking at have one, if they came from the same roll, they may have more in that same batch. So continue looking when you find one to see if there are more. Extras are great for trading with others so don't stop when you find one. Never know what you can sell or trade to get another coin that you need.
Another thing you might like to make an inventory of what coins you have in your collection and which one you have duplicates of. This is hand when trading to know what you have and what you can trade.
Hope this helps and again, welcome aboard.

Ronder - welcome. You are finding that there are a number of helpful people here, a rather rare thing on the internet. For that I am thankful and proud to be the owner of this site.
As for where you can find a "set" of the proof "S" mint cents from 75-date, that typically won't happen. Individual coins are about the only route, but there is good news. Most of them will cost around a buck each to obtain, and they are easy to find for the better part.
The most fun in collecting is filling the holes and the challenge in doing so. Have fun with it, check on eBay, use the buy/sell/trade section of this forum, check shows, stores, etc. Much of what has been suggested here is right on the money, and there really isn't much to add to it. You've been given sage advice from some good experienced collectors.
Chuck
