Found this 1944 and am wondering if that mark by the ear could be a 'doubled die'. Thanks for looking. Need more pics?

Not sure but I'm thinking it might be a hit because the normal part of the ear looks flat not rounded as if the hit split the normal rounded part off and there are a few nearby marks.
There is a similar looking 1941 that shows on the ear but it also shows on the date and liberty.

I agree that it looks like a hit. The 1941 with the doubled ear is 1DO-006, but as Ed states, it has considerable doubling on the 19 of the date and the TY of LIBERTY.

I've looked at other '44 ears and is normal size except for the mark similar to the 2005 quarter. [/img]

Hard to say for sure.
If there are others from the same die that would be a way to know if it's a real variety.
The 2005 quarter has no hits and other examples exist so it's easier to say it's a DDO.
