The reply and post buttons are the first things I am going to change when I can get home and get to my computer where I have graphic editors. I'm currently at work and am stuck without a way to compose graphics.
Really...if you want a section for gold, silver, and aluminum coins I'll be happy to oblige

Yup, that's another issue I still have to resolve. I didn't realize there was a problem with that until this afternoon.

One aspect of the board that already caught me is the ability to post without being logged in. I don't like that--anytime I post, I want my name as the author of the post because I think it's the "right thing to do." I already posted once by error without being logged in so the author is given as "guest." I wish the board would force one to log in before one could post. But, this is a small issue....

I had guest posting enabled on parts of my forum at first and then some spammers hit and I did away with it altogether.

I agree with your observations about being able to post as a guest. Please remember that this board is only a day or two old, and we have many things to do to fine tune it. We will take all of your suggestions to heart, and if making you register and sign in is a viable way, we will do it. However, there is nothing keeping a spammer from registering under some lame name and doing his thing that way. Chuck and myself will monitor this carefully, and do what's best for the board. It's great to be getting inputs already. If you have any more suggestions, please feel free to post them, or email to Chuck or myself. We will be happy to look them over.

Hi Jim,
I am not really sure about the security features running in the background for this forum. I am sure Chuck knows though, and on top of that, I am sure more will be incorporated as time goes on. It really is too bad that we have to worry about things like spammers and the like. It sure takes the joy out of maintaining a forum, or anything else for that matter. One of the reasons I have been staying out of the Error world arena lately is for that reason. My email address, and subsequently everything I dealt with was compromised. I haven't lost interest, just got so fed up with it. I am sure you know what I mean. Please rest assured that with inputs from folks like you and the 37 or so others that have joined this forum in the last 36 hours, that we will strive to make this work. I am glad you're on board as I am well used to seeing 'Laz' around. I will get with Chuck as soon as he gets back and discuss some of the things you and others have mentioned. Once again, thanks for your inputs, and we'd love to hear more about how to make this forum work for everyone.

This forum software is very powerful. Right off the bat, you can set it up to allow guest posting, require registration, require registration with email validation, or require registration with Admin verification.
You can also ban people based on IP, email, user name and probably more.
You can also create groups that have special permissions, for example only certain group members have access to certain forums. You can create hidden, restricted forums for those groups. And on and on.
I am sure that Chuck, et al. will be able to manage the board and keep it secure as it grows with no problem.

Hey Stujoe,
It sure is nice having someone else who's worked with this stuff on board. As you stated, I am sure Chuck will be able to administer the board and apply whateer features are needed to make it grow. He seems genuinely excited about it. He has put in an enormous amount of work into coppercoins.com. Although I have helped where I could, he is the brains behind what is sure to be a huge success in the near future. As of this writing, we have 45 members on board right now. He will be excited about that when he returns later this evening. As a moderator of many of these individual areas on the forum, I hope you don't mind if I sometimes pick your brain a bit, so that I can be sure I am doing a good job. This is really cool, and we have no place to go but up. Chuck deserves all the credit though. It amazes me what he can do when he puts his mind to it. Thanks again for all your inputs thus far.
BTW...I visited your site this evening and found it very enlightening. Great work.

Thanks Bob.
Looking at what Chuck has done with the main Copper Coins site, I have no doubt he is light years ahead of me in this web stuff but I will certainly give whatever tips I can with the forum software. I have no doubt he will have it mastered very quickly.
