robert, You are younger than I thought! No problem, though, I also get the impression that you had your butt busted a time or two. Kids will have that happen, once in a while, because some parents still remember how it was "at home,', and try to see if it ereally works. The time that Paremnts were "divorced from their kids, or vice-versa, was about the time when the "hippies, and "flower-girls" were the fad. since then, it has gone down-hill. I do notice that some of the current generations are taking a bit more time to show the kids, it is easier to comply, than to resist. Maybe the "worm has turned", and the respect, and all that goes with it will return. That will be nice!
I don't think you were entirely to blame for any "hijacking". I have been down that road, and somehow even though I try, sometimes it just gets away. Wink

Gary, i didn't smoke, when I inlisted, in '43. I chewed "Days Work", chewwing tobacco. Being as there was no place to spit, I started smoking instead. not addicted, just acting smart! The only problem, was that in boot camp, as it was called, there were no "butt kits", and he who threw one on the "deck", paid the price! Of course the whole company helped him remember not to do that again! Everything was done as a unit. You wash your clothes, everybody washes clothes, you hung them on a "lanyard, and secured them with clothes stops. No clothes pins. That is how it was done in in "our Blooming Naivy"! "Join the NAvy, and See the World"! At least you didnt' live in, or on the ground.
I have two grandsons who can tell you about that. I told them to join the Navy, because you didn't have to dig holes in the ground to live in, or for protection, or just because a hole needed to be dug,and filled back in. They even had to dig their own crappers! They didn't listen, The had to be ATMY, because the Army said "Be All you Can BE", join the Army. They still dig holes, but in Afghanistan!
