lincoln cent weight?

Hello everyone
i was going through a bu roll of 1960-D small date and found a nice D/D with a big die chip on the 6 and b&r of liberty.just got a new scale in so thought i would pay with it and the lincoln weighed 3.1gr. thought it was odd show weighed all the roll and they were from 3.0gr to 3.2 gr . check the cal. of scale and its correct. check a few from another roll with same resaltes. the book says lincolns weigh 2.5gr did weigh about 5 from pocket change and they weighed 2.5
is the book wrong or did i get a few rolls that was not rolled wright from the minting prosess?

Hi John,
I am sure you just missed it somewhere in your book, but all cents prior to 1982 weighed approx 3.11 grams. With the advent of the copper plated zinc cents in 1982, the weight changed to 2.5 grams. So...your 1960D cents are indeed the proper weight. Your pocket change was most likely post 1982, and therefore would weigh the 2.5 grams each.
