Actually Dick there are a few VA hospitals that due treat spouses, but they are far and few inbetween. I know that there is one in PA but it is just to far for me to travel to bring my wife. The one I am assigned to already is over an hour away, and the one that will treat spouses is 3 hours away. So in short, there are some that will treat spouses. Oh and the VA's that do treat spouses, will also bill Medicare or Tricare for said treatment.

Dave, thanks for the info. i didn't realize that there were any. It is olgical that they charge medicasre for the coverage. The fact that both people can go to the VA, and both be seen, should be a matter of course., because, like I said thety "put up with the Military", and all it required of the one on active duty, so why not incluse the spouse? I suppose it depends on the location, and availability of any type of health care . Like in my wifes case, she is on the cancer registry, with DEERS, ( she had cancer in '72). and altho we do not have a current Dependants ID card for her, it is still available to apply. Living over a 100 miles from any military base, and/or living out of the country, makes it next to impossible to seek coverage, so we both just used the local MD's, and hospitals, where necessary. We live just a few miles from Loma Linda, CA, and our daughter does the driving to take either of us,to the VA, or to Kaiser-Permanente hospital, for my wife.I don't drive, because I am legally blind. I wonder what kind of answer I would get, if I asked the VA, about combined coverage. That would save half of the expenses for just the driving.

Don't be surprised if this current administration tries to cut into the Mil. retirees pay; how else are they going to pay for all the benefits they are giving to illegal immigrants.
Lets face it, the "President" wanted the Military vets coming back from Iraq, to pay for the own health problems received during that conflict. He stated that it was the patriotic thing to do.
This president along with the seated Congress is a disaster in the making. With the out of control spending, they will drag down this country far worse than anything President Bush ever thought of doing.
If you think that this massive "health care" bill, which the Democrats are so anxious to pass, is aimed at those mainstream people who do not have health care, take a good, long hard look at it. It benefits minorities and illegals the most, the people most likely to vote the Democratic ticket.
At least some of the people are coming to their senses and if more follow their conscience like they did in Massachusetts, then we maybe able to salvage what we have.

BJ, you are closer than you think, in what "our Commander-in-Chief" is planning. I just wish he would stop ant think, for just a nano-second, and realize that he is not doing this country any good. Maybe id he "pisses off" enough of the WWII, and all the rest to date, bad enough, maybe we can force him to resign! No use counting on the "congress, et al" to do anything, because they are ALL too busy with their own "axe to grind", to worry about what is goinfg on. Of course there is an even worse scenario to consider: Obama resighs, (or is assassinated), and Joe Biden becomes president! That would be grounds for a "general uprising. Think about it! I agree with your comment about Bush, and in his case, it was the lessor of the two evils. I wouldn't want to think what Gore would have done. We haven't had a "Good" chioce for president in several decades!
