If it's of any consolation, I just did a crude overlay, and the spacing of the issue in the rim matches exactly with the spacing of the upper extremities of the letters...so I agree without any doubt that this is a repunched 908.
If this is a die that is not already listed, I am sure Rick would like to see it and/or photograph it for his references. I would hop on that opportunity.

Just a comment re the MPD's. It seems that the digits found in the denticles, and in other areas, such as the neck, and the ribbon, and I believe there is one in an feather, if I;m not mistaken. The reasoning is that these "marks" are actually a test of the annealing process, to see if it was done properly.

Dick,
I think this 1908 is one that I gave you along with the IHC set so you should have it. (it was in a flip labeled not in a folder)
