The last two photos answered your question. note that the inside "shelf", does not go all the way around on both? If it did, it would be an indicator to me that it is a "hub-doubled" digit, rather than a "MD. IMHO.

Well, actually it's neither machine doubling nor hub doubling. It's die deterioration doubling. That's the only form of 'doubling' - collectible or not-collectible that causes the appearance of doubling in more than one direction.

The coin is not worth more than face value. If you do list it, I hope you will put that in the description and not mislead bidders to think that it is worth anything over face.

Chuck, Thanks for making that declartion as to the DDD. I have heard of it many times, but hadn't seen one so graphically shown. Thanks to you both, for the post, and explanation.

Smed is correct. Anyone paying over face value for those is buying something they don't understand, and anyone selling them for over face is sucker fishing.

Tjhe actual value of this, or any other like it, is in the educational value, as Coop has said, many times. He has quite a collection of items of that class.

Unfortunately, that is the way ebay operates. If it exists, there is someone who will put it on ebay, as "sucker-bait". Been there done that! Buyer then, buyer now, but much wiser!
