Hey all, I found two of these today in some rolls. I am sorry for the poor quality of photo but I am working on it. The coin is a 2009-D nickel. There is a definite die break above the two (I know it doesn't look like a blob of metal in the photo!). My question is what is the tail coming off of the two. It appears as if it is part of the two. I found two nickels exactly alike so I know I am not imagining things. If the pics are too bad, let me know and I will try again. Thanks

Well, I have tried to take better pics but I guess this is the best the camera will do. Any ideas?

My first impression is that it is a form of strike doubling.

Might be a little die chip.

looks like a die gouge above the "2", and a chip, sitting on the tail of the "2".

Thanks for the responses. I am still a newbie at this no matter how many different pictures I have seen of things that go wrong during the minting process. Well I guess I didn't find some crazy new error that can be cataloged. Still a nice keeper for my book! The search continues. Thanks again all!
