For those of you who are members of CONECA or are interested in the affairs of that organization, you may want to stop in on that forum and see what is up.
CONECA will be having an election soon and the future of that organization depends heavily on who is elected as president. If you have a question, grip, comment or anything else to say, now is the time to do it.

Each person that is running for president has a totally different agenda for which way CONECA will be taking in the future.
I will not get into the politics of which way is the correct way for this organization; it is up to the members of CONECA to decide the best path to take.
There are 11 board seats for CONECA; presently, two are vacant and one of the board members does not become involved with any policy making. That leaves 8 voting board members. Three board members are not running for re-election and three board members are running for the same seat. At the end of the elections, you will now have a board of directors that have either 5 or 4 (depending on who is elected president) people with only 4 or 3 people willing to vote on policies concerning CONECA. That is the problem; without a diverse board of directors, a path can be chosen with easy for the organization whether it be right or wrong.
Yes, the president of CONECA can fill two board seats during his term. However, this will only solidify his position for undoubtedly he will chose only those people who will endorse his policies and changes that he will institute.

Hmm, interesting.
I always wanted to try having more involvement in CONECA and NCADD, but over the past couple of years everything else in my life has become so stressful and involving of my time, I don't think I could give either organization the time or attention they would warrant from their voting leaders.
I do, however, wish CONECA the best in this trying time. If I can help with articles, etc. just let me know. I do plan to get back to writing more articles in the near future.
