I just see machine doubling damage on the mint mark.

Watch for a secondary mintmark that actually shows separation as notches in the serifs or a clearly separated bar, loop, corner, etc.

Thickness and layered doubling without notching are almost always machine doubling.

Ok, in my mind I hadn't applied the notching idea from doubled dies to RPM's, but will in the future.

While the cause is vastly different the effect of the two are very similar. Additionally, machine doubling is the same effect and can affect both the mintmark and other devices...so it would have a very similar appearance no matter where it is.

I know, I'm also thinking the forum was intended maybe primarily for "coppercoins", I don't want to detract from that by asking about other metals.
I'd likely stick with bank boxed pennies if it wasn't that my sister works at an "Indian casino" and I buy her tips every week, and so get any and everything including some foreign items.

I like cents best because it's so cheap to get a bunch to look at and there's so many varieties.

Thanks again for looking, I agree with those reasons, and I think my equipment works best with old copper, I get so much distortion or something shooting the white metals. I suppose thats another topic for another day.

I'm with you on the copper. No matter if it is foreign, or domestic, as long as it is copper. Currently, I'm into the Canadian large cents. It can get carried away, too! I was working with FE/IHC, but it is too hard to find anything to work with, unless one was"born with at least a silver spoon in his mouth".
Re the "pechanga guess, is because I like the "Pala", but it only has one machine I like to play, and there are so many people that it is next to impossivble to get near it. But there is another angle: Peolple drop a lot of coins on the floor, and don't bend down to pick them up. Not "old Watashi"! I'll bend over to pick up any coin, no matter where it came from, or where it's been! like coops, "legend", It could be small change.

Yeah the coins made these days, even the Zincolns arent worth their face value melted down. That another attraction I have to the copper, they are already double their face value even if cull.
I pull all the copper out of the bank rolls, one 50C roll of copper is a little over 5 troy ounces. I am a little crazy about commodities, copper, silver, paladium, but not zinc, yet.
I never was able to profit in the gambling sector, maybe on account of a short memory, counting cards...
I actually worked at the Flamingo Hilton in Laughlin, got paid by the cashier in the casino and walked right out without stopping.
